for each SEC team since 1980:
LONGEST LOSING STREAKS AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS FOR EACH TEAM SINCE 1980:
5 games- Alabama (twice... 1997-1998 and 2000-2001)
7 games- Georgia (1995-1996)
8 games- LSU (1990-1992)
9 games- Florida (2010-2011)
10 games- Auburn (twice... 1997-1999 and 2011-2013)
12 games- S. Carolina (1997-1999)
13 games- Texas A&M (1980-1983)
14 games- Arkansas (2012-2014)
15 games- Mississippi St. (2010-2013)
19 games- Tennessee (2009-2013)
20 games- Missouri (1983-1989)
21 games- Ole Miss (1980-1986)
25 games- Kentucky (1989-1997)
56 games- Vanderbilt (1992-2006)
**Thing that jumped out at me most (aside from Vanderbilt's number) is that Mississippi State's longest losing streak against ranked teams occurred during the Dan Mullen era.
LONGEST WINNING STREAKS AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS FOR EACH SEC TEAM SINCE 1980:
9 games- Alabama (twice- 2009-2010 and 2015-current)
9 games- LSU (2011)
8 games- Georgia (2006-2008)
8 games- Auburn (2010-2011)
7 games- Florida (2008-2009)
6 games- Tennessee (1998-1999)
4 games- Ole Miss (2015)
4 games- Texas A&M (twice... 1984-1986 and 1998-1999)
3 games- S. Caroina (3x... 2001, 2011-2012, and 2013)
3 games- Mississippi St. (twice... 1999-2000 and 2014)
3 games- Arkansas (twice... 1999 and 2011)
2 games- Missouri (multiple times)
*Kentucky nor Vandy have won consecutive games against ranked teams since 1980.
Other than Tennessee's abysmal 19 game losing streak to ranked opponents, this is just further evidence of the Big 6's dominance.

Thank goodness for that 1999 championship season.

So post-Bryant (including the late 90s and 2000s) we still have the smallest losing streak against ranked teams in the SEC over that period.

Arky had a 3 game streak in 2011 also and are currently on a 3 game streak right now.

Also surprised that with all of Florida's dominant teams in the 1990s and during the Meyer era, they were never able to muster more than a 7-game winning streak vs. ranked opponents.

Alabama has a good football program.

Florida had the FSU problem in the 90's. In the Meyer era, they had the marijuana problem.

I think it's interesting how there seems to be an upper limit on winning streaks, but not one on losing streaks.
I mean I'm sure somebody could rattle off 15, 20, or even 56 ranked wins in a row but I wouldn't imagine it's very likely

Extremely unlikely. During Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak they played and beat only 10 ranked teams in a five year period. Streak began after a loss to #1 ND in 1953 and ended with a loss to un-ranked ND in 1957.

Fascinating post. I have no snide remarks or backhanded compliments to make to any of the programs. Good work.

In three years Dooley NEVER beat a ranked team. What a fricking joke
