that guy is not smart. At all. I guess some people fall for his "awe shuks" persona. He'd be a sales manager at a seedy used car lot if he weren't a football coach.

I listened and actually thought he did well.

He's a football coach. Oh, and I've heard "shhh he's not too bright" about Richt for years from UGA fans.

Sounded like he was reading straight from the "Coach's Cliche" book. To each his own I guess.

Yes. I'd estimate from like 4-5 people, but that includes one or two mentions on this board. But I have a couple of friends who've told me that in personal interactions he seems rather like a dullard, and a guy I worked with said the same (don't know if he met him or just heard that). Those folks are all UGA people.

Someone a few weeks ago on here mentioned in passing that it was known Richt wasn't too smart apart from football, and I'd seen the same at some other point.

Honestly, while I think Richt gets too much credit for being a super great guy, I'd have no reason to think he's stupid. Like Jimbo, he's a football coach and they usually seem pretty limited in communication skills, but I don't know if that reflects a lack of intellect (plus they're football guys, I don't anticipate they're true scholars).

No I didn't, and after hearing it several times from your people I kind thought you guys would have heard it too.

Seriously I have never heard one UGA fan call Richt unintelligent.

There is no doubt he's a dullard. Most of what I hear is he's stubborn to a fault, but not dumb.

While I agree somewhat with the "they're football coaches and aren't that bright" I personally think getting 50-60 kids, most of whom are probably semi-literate, to perform at such a high level takes intelligence and great communication skills.

and you base this judgement on an interview? a meaningless media session. let's talk about your intelligence.

news flash; the ONLY interview a coach needs to ace is his job interview. all of the fluff shite he has to do with the media is bull shite and has zero to do with his job performance. the only thing a HC has to do right in an interview with the media is not break any laws or dis any players.

I mean, who actually believes one friggin' word a coach says in an interview?

I wonder how many coaches have failed to get jobs because the AD said.."you know, the guy may know football, have super motivation skills and has an outstanding record but he sounds dumb; I can't hire him"

Saban says dumb shite all the time in interviews and people on this board pick it apart and bash him mercilessly.

I've never put Saban into the Jimbo category, ever. Saban just doesn't GAS and doesn't hide it well.

It's a different type of communication skill. They have to know how to speak in a persuasive way to young people, many of whom are also not very bright.

But, in settings where they're asked to speak on broader topics or at a higher level, it doesn't always turn out as well and they come off as simpletons.

Jimbo is running the Florida State College for Wayward Boys and cant see the forest for the trees. When the arrests keep mounting the heat will begin to warm his azz.

They are going to lose a few games this year....the balloon will pop shortly afterwards when discovery is made that the girls school is dirty as a yard dog and cheating like a mutha....thats how they roll.

He's a douchier, less football-smart version of a young Bobby Bowden.
