Watching the replay of the Missouri game, my goodness the 1st qtr alone makes me cringe.

21 pts and 210 yds by Missouri St. in the 1st qtr

You left out MS ST. They only gave up 33 yards, but they did play an FCS school which may be why you left them off

Miss State has potential. I'm reserving judgement on them until we see them play a non-cupcake.

I'm in agreement on Mizzou, but I finally decided to go through the numbers a bit:

2cd half, Mizzou held MSU to 112 yards on 37 plays, 3.03 yards per play on average & 8 total points.

If that was doubled to represent the whole game, then while we'd be a bit down on the defense, we'd largely be pretty optimistic about how things were going.

Problem was the 1st half: 380 yards allowed on 37 plays for an average of 10.27 yards per play. That's why all of us Mizzou fans, plus anyone who likes defense, blinded their eyes at halftime.

Mizzou for the game: 815 yards for an average of 10.87 YPP. Mizzou had the ball for 21:44, so they did that in about 1/3 of the game.
