I tried to explain this to my cousin. After much pickin and fiddlin, He eventually claimed that even if they had to endure a temporary drop, they just had to fire him. Unlike us mere mortals, the great LSU wouldn't have to suffer a Dooley, Franchione, John Smith, Zook, Muschamp or Mackovic.

That's for another thread. Stay on topic.

I've found a couple of examples of great coaching hires after firing a successful one midseason. They are as follows:

Most successful does not always mean still successful. This board used to laugh at Miles and say how much of an idiot he was and how LSU would never be elite with him are now saying we are dumb for firing him! Which is it?

It's neither what don't you dumbasses understand? You should have fired Miles, but you couldn't help yourself but frick it up.

Yeah it's a tough situation. I legitimately had a tough time hearing the news even though I have been on board with him leaving for quite some time. He was a guy that I liked, but just saw the program heading backwards ever since they couldn't make a qb decision after Matt Flynn.

This is not a good decision for this year, but keeping him wouldn't help either. We've already lost to two mediocre teams, with the heart of the schedule coming. We nearly lost a 3rd. You've got to start building for the future at some point. This probably ends as a 4 or 5 loss season with him or without him. If we aren't in the top 25 at the end of the season, I don't care who is captain of the ship and that's where we were/are headed.

I hope he knows that LSU is proud to have had him as a coach, but it's just time to make a change. The circumstances are terrible, but what could make it better? Waiting until the end of the season? We did that last year and got the same reactions.

I don't know what the stats are like in college but midseason firings have actually been proven to be a good idea. Teams usually get better after they fire a coach mid-season.

He hasn't been "the most successful coach" in over half a decade. You are living in a dreamworld, make LSU great again fantasy land.

It's called fear. Miles beat Aggie 5 times in a row. LSU will be better with him gone. When LSU continues to beat Aggie, what is left for them?
