I really hate democrats and this is just a threat to try to get people to agree with his tax hikes. However threatening college football in the south is just stupid

Foster Campbell will get John Bel Edwards to push through the oil and gas processing fee he has wanted for years.

Think in terms of Obama and Biden level of stupid.

The rioting in that state if they shut down LSU football would make that Rodney King shite look like a playground scuffle at a catholic school.

Of course it's just a threat and will never happen, but if you look deeper its a systemic problem in college football.

These schools spend an insane amount of money on football and it looks particularly bad for schools that are in dire straits financially like LSU.

LSU football and the LSU AD give money back to the school. This is beyond stupid and it's shameful it's even being mentioned.

LSU football can survive off it's own funding.

The real question is if we get to fall and LSU is still shutdown, would the NCAA allow them to compete in events? Can they have a football team without any basketball, baseball, or any of the women's sports?

How is turning a profit therfore being able to give millions to academics every year look bad for the AD?

The school spends zero dollars on football. The state spends zero dollars on LSU football. The school and state spend zero dollars on LSU sports entirely.

I mean, frick, even the city of Tuscaloosa pays for police presence at Alabama football games.

This has nothing to do with LSU sports and everything to do with trashy Louisiana politics and how poorly our higher institutions are funded.

Many of the campuses in Louisiana should be shuttered, permanently. The black college system should be disbanded and any programs of worth folded into successful institutions. TOPS should be treated as a loan, to be paid back if the student flunks.

So what? They also bring in an "insane amount of money".The real issue is
Title IX and the "insane" amount of money that non revenue sports cost these
schools.

Football programs turn a profit, sure.

That's not relevant to the insane amount of money that's spent on them.

LSU spent 24M on football alone last year.

He's not threatening to shut down football, but if classes end on April 30th when LSU is officially poorer than UTk, then the players will not be eligible. This is a little more serious than football. The idiot Republican Gov Jindal destroyed the state financially.

Thank God we elected a Dem. to try to solve this complete cluster frick.

In Bel Edward's retarded Democrat brain, the school shuts down April 30th, all classes end, and all students receive incomplete grades.

All athletes, being students, receive incomplete grades and are ineligible for fall sports.

I'd actually like to see him do it. He'd be tarred and feathered on 3rd street and we'd get a new, not-retarded governor.

For idiots that don't know the difference between revenue and profits, sure it looks bad.
