A lot of momentum with UT to the Liberty bowl against either UTx or WVU. Would love to play against Tejas .. meh on WVU.

Arky, what are ya'll hearing on your end? It sounds like it's going to be one of us in Memphis
against the Big12 matchups

quote:

The Liberty Bowl's associate executive director on Thursday told the Knoxville News Sentinel — a 247Sports partner — that the bowl wants Tennessee

quote:

"We've made it very clear that Tennessee is the team we want," Harold Graeter said, according to the KNS report. "We've been following Tennessee since Signing Day. ...We visited with (Tennessee coach Butch Jones) and (athletic director) Dave Hart throughout the spring, summer and fall. We went to five UT games. We've been very visible and very out front about the team we'd like to have. There's no secret about the team that we want."

quote:

"It's the flagship university of the state, and they haven't played in our game in 28 years," Graeter said. "...There's a huge base of alums in this part of the state. There are 9,000 UT-Knoxville alums within 25 miles, so that's a substantial number of alumni here. Coming here would certainly dovetail what Butch is trying to do from a recruiting standpoint, and it dovetails with the university trying to attract students from Memphis."

They probably want fans that will travel to the game. Tennessee is the best bet there.

UT fans are starved for any bowl game, so I'll assume they'll have a good showing.

Just win

Hoping for Arkansas vs texas. I don't think it'll happen though, Arkansas will probably get shafted.

The Liberty Bowl peeps have wanted us for years. It's beyond the usual deal of them knowing we'll travel. They're UT fans and one if them is basically a super-fan.

It doesn't surprise me that this came out today, especially since Belk has been showing us some love and twitter vols were showing that love back. If the Liberty let's us slip away this time, it may be a long time before they have the opportunity to get us again.

Music City wants us as well but I think they've got the longest shot because of the league's involvement in bowls now. At any rate, it's nice to be fought over. Fandom of the Liberty Bowl execs aside whoever gets us knows they'll get a boost in the number of fans who attend the bowl for several reasons that make us a good commodity for bowl committees.

Either team will be good for attendance.

I could see us getting sent to Texas, just because of our alumni base and ease of travel there.

Especially after the way the east embarassed the conference with ooc losses.

They can't go wrong with either team from a attendance/financial standpoint. Both will pack the house. I'm personally hoping we get it for the West TN VOLS that live 6-7 hours away from the Mecca and aren't able to make it to games very often.

Hard to be shafted when you are 6-6

Would rather go to Charlotte or Nashville. Ain't nobody in the East wantin' to drive to Memphis.

This is all part of the meticulous plan to have Drew Richmond's flip displayed to a national audience.

That drive is terrible. Hence, it being good for the West TN fans to finally have something out that way to attend. Everyone in East TN is spoiled with the availablity to go to home games. I've spoke with West TN - UT fans that haven't been to a game in years because of the 6 hour drive.

We're not spoiled just because we live near campus. Y'all could always move closer to Mecca, we'd be happy to have you. Besides you already had a home game this year @OM.

MCB is at least close for everyone.
