Players also receive cost of attendance checks and scholarship checks if they live off campus in addition to tuition and books.
Right around $10K a year in checks depending on the cost of living/attendance. Plenty for a college student to essentially be getting almost everything for "free."

Throw in that they get free shite to wear, free food and free alcohol and you're pretty much set.
I knew an LSU track athlete and he used to give away Nike shoes and clothes. They get that shite in droves and it ends up being all they wear.
