James Conner when healthy is a top 5 back and Samaje Perine in a down hill running scheme is as well. Alex Collins is somewhere in the top 8.

Zeke had an average of 3.74 yards per carry against fricking hawaii

This shouldn't even be an argument

Of course there is debating it. Zeke is the best running back in the country right now. He had more yards last week than Fournette. He had a better game than Fournette so RIGHT NOW Zeke is better

Yeah, let us just dismiss the rest of the games played this season.

How about that 3.74 ypc against Hawaii doe?

Because you tried to discount Elliott's performances at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Bringing stats from last year into your argument can only go so far. They make a good point that Elliott is a solid back. However, in the off season guys have the opportunity to become bigger, faster, and stronger than they were the year before. They also study film and work to improve upon technique. Furthermore, the players and even coaches around them change. All of these variables factor in to why you can't use what a player did last year to argue that they are currently better than a player this year.

You are right that there is a lot of football left to be played. Fournette will likely have a big game again vs SCAR. Florida may be his first big test, but the Gators hosted his coming out party last year.

Fournette and Elliot have one common opponent. Alabama last year.

Fournette: 21-79, 0 TDs
Elliot: 20-230, 2 TDs

What does this prove? Nothing, same as everything else pointed out in this thread. It's barely October.

Let's talk desperation. Lf7 is gonna soon meet a brick wall.

re we discussing who's the best back right now? If so, LF is head and shoulders the best back.

Not head and shoulders the best. He may be but not by some huge margin. Look at who he has faced as competition. Not exactly that great, actually very weak.

Florida will be the first real test. Of he goes off on them then sure. I'm sure he will get a decent amount of yards, by default, because he will get 30 carries on that game. 30/150 and 2 tds in a losing effort. Will have one long run to bring up his average and make it appear better. Similar to Chubb vs Bama. Before you get your tiger vags all sandy I'm not putting him down or saying he's not great just not as great as Lsu fans proclaim. He's a Damn fine RB.

Bookmarking this post. Can't wait to revisit in 2 weeks. And of course if he does go off you'll downplay that as well because Florida has a better pass defense than a rush defense.

It proves Elliot was better in 2014. So far 2015 has been a different story.

You're a retard if you try and go any further with this argument of who's better, currently, this season.

Did the OP say this season only? I mean, we could put any constraints on this we want. Doesn't prove anything. If you want to get rustled about it, I'll say overall, Zeke has looked better against better competition and when it matters.

I agree Elliot is under sold.. I'd call him and Fournette even.

But ask Bama fans here..that guy is a stud.. You'll get hatred from Lsu fans but I think he is every bit as good as Fournette. Catches better and blocks better. Those are part of being a Rb as well. Pure running Fournette is better. But in terms of all the position ask, I call them even.

Sure for the purposes of this thread you have the right and freedom to talk about whatever you want and set whatever parameters you want to measure by. No ones stopping you by any means eat your heart out etc. I think all were saying is most groups, people, Heisman campaign, football seasons, etc are measured one season at a time. I mean what an individual/team did last year is good for pre-season recognition and hype but typically what you do after that matters for the current season.

Elliot is a great player. LF is a great player. As far as production goes so far they are pretty close to even. I just think LF has a much higher ceiling. He's bigger and faster than Elliot. Seems to run with a little more nasty as well(opinion). There just don't seem to be too many 6'1 235 lbs guys that run 4.35 40's walking around. LF is an absolute freak of nature.

Fournette is hands down the best back in the country.

I was just about to say this. Honestly, the top four running backs in the country are
1. Leonard Fournette
2. Dalvin Cook
3. Zeke Elliot
4. Nick Chubb
5. Derrick Henry

I'd switch Chubb & Elliot, but I can definitely see the logic. Anyone who can't admit Cook is a step above the rest of the pack (excepting Buga) is a homer.
