When it first became clear there was a real chance that O would be hired I'd estimate 70-75% of LSU fans here were mortified. When it actually happened, he went out and hired/retained what appeared to be 2 very good coordinators, I'd say that dropped a bit and at least 50% were willing to give it a chance (because, what other choice did they have?).

There aren't many LSU people who wanted this to happen, so saying "I told you so" to most of them is kind of off base.

Now, there were a few after BYU/Chattanooga who drank all the Kool-Aid and starting feeling good about things. They deserve a slight ribbing.

The Curious Case of Coach O is a frightful tale.

He will play teams like Alabama, Auburn, and Florida close. LSU fans will get their hopes up thinking the team has turned the corner only to realize Coach O has been playing tiddlywinks with their hearts.

I didn't think O could screw up the culture of the entire program in one season. I'm impressed by how bad he has been. I didn't think he could completely screw up the defense either but he's done it.

I'll admit that after BYU I thought the D was incredibly fast.

That lasted about one week. After Chattanooga, and especially State, I realised BYU is just one of the slowest team's I've ever seen.

Also, fricking this. I figured we'd ride out 3 mediocre years with O and then fire him cheap. Not for one second did I think he could derail the train so quickly.

No way. Team O was WAY bigger than 25-30% of fans on here.

The reality is when they ran Les off a whole bunch of them arrogantly thought "we could hand this program over to someone with the mental capacity of a third grader and still win more games than Les could." And then they were proven wrong.

The "I told you so" isn't that they wanted O, the "I told you so" is they think the LSU program wins ten games a year on autopilot. They didn't come close to appreciating with Les did for them.

I'll agree with this, then it went to about 25% going into the summer

^^This should be a lesson to every fanbase. Whenever we say a program is so stacked that a chimp can hold the clipboard and roll out automatic wins, we will look back at LSU's situation and realize a LOT goes into managing a team and preparing them to compete on Saturday's.

aTm fans should be careful. You guys are about to run off a coach who's doing exactly what Les was doing, record wise.

Difference is LSU fans had a taste of championships and wanted that again. aTm fans want to fire their 8 win coach in hopes that their Nick Saban comes along.

You guys need to tread carefully.

Question?

How are the LSU big money guys handling the current state of affairs with CEO? The PTB, big Boosters, Board of Trustees, etc....

Joe Alleva did not hire EdO on his own, he had to have the approval and backing of the BOT, President and the power brokers to sign off on the hiring and get that contact cleared.

I can't really say. The BOS approved the asinine contract so they are complicit as far as I'm concerned.

I can't believe no one involved said, "12 million? That's a joke, right?"

Yeah but that's not because of 0, it's a normal summer ritual. The Louisiana summer heat triggers delusions, they convince themselves they're unbeatable, then fall and reality arrive.

I didn't think O was going to become Dabo, but I thought there was a chance he could have a few good years and at worst slowly decline and get fired.

I wouldn't have bet in 1,000 years that by October 1st they would look like this.

True Fact:

The Gov of LA has an active seat on the BOS. With some pretty strong voting ability. In the past most Gov have not used this position and normally differ His or Her vote to the other BOS members, or goes with the Majority.

BUT; Bobby Jindal, with his forceful ways of putting his nose in everything and has to show his power, actually used all his voting leverage and political clout to save MILES in 2015.

2016 MIles is fired and the NEW GOV, MR Edwards, decides to use his democratic leverage to save a dollar after CLAIMING LSU may not have a football program because of budget cuts Voted strongly for COACH O to save 3 Million.

The rest is history, and a lot of pissed of fans.

But let the rumors continue to fly. They are hilarious, like LSU fans get a vote.

Booster don't pay for shite returns, they have the money to remove anyone they want, just not a power hungry and jealous GOVENOR>

There's a major rift between Orgeron and his two coordinators. He and Canada are at each other's throats right now.

This program is crumbling at a record pace right now.

Ugh I forgot about that. I wonder how much Edwards' threatening to remove LSU's football program weighed on the decision making to hire O.
