Les Miles gets shite all the time for winning in 2007 with 2 losses, but Saban gets a pass for his.

Outside of 2009, he had to rely on other teams screwing up, and a few other lucky circumstances to win his.

Let's take two others:

2003: (Remember, I'm an LSU fan) going into Championship weekend, we were third, behind USC and Oklahoma.

We played an extra game, USC did not, and Oklahoma lost to Kstate, which split the 2vote enough for us to come out ahead of USC barely. Was a split championship(only one of BCS era)

2011: Saban loses at home, doesn't win his division, doesn't play an extra game.

Oklahoma State missed a field goal against Iowa State.

Saban gets a pass to NOLA, and LSU has to beat UGA for the right to play Bama.

These happened, and he won the NC both years, but with Bama fans, or media, don't like to say its luck.

Why shite on Miles for his NC though?

ETA: was little drunk and forgot to put "with" before Bama. Didn't mean to make it seem only Gumps rag Les'. LSU Rantards do that more.

And Arky & Aggy.

But they are just jealous.

You're right. Les >>>>>> Saban. Give him a raise, extension and a 30 billion dollar buyout. He deserves it.

There was luck in just about every NC winner. There is also bad luck some years when you don't (think kick 6 in 2013). The point is to be in position to win it. Saban is putting Bama in position to win it every year.

There's always luck in championships baw. That's what makes them so special. Who cares if they say Les' ring was all luck?

It's our 2007 National Championship. Let em' gaze up at the banner and stay salty.

Your luckiest break was UT's auburnesqe lucky streak that kept UGA out of the dome. You guys were banged up and the Dawgs were on fire.

"Georgia was the better team in September, and they're the better team now." - Trev Alberts 2003.

And...

Our coach won an NC, and played for another.

Face it: when he was hot to trot, Richt still had to squat.

That's why he's interviewing with Maryland.

Tennessee completely dismantled UGA that year, it wasn't some fluke

Georgia definitely bounced back after the Tennessee loss, beating Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, and Georgia Tech in a four game stretch. Georgia was almost certainly the better team. The problem is that Georgia fans have worked up this narrative to the point where they truly believe they were better than LSU. While they certainly would have been competitive in the CCG, I don't think they would have beaten LSU -- even without Glenn Dorsey and Matt Flynn.

No Saban NC team lost to Arkansas and Kentucky. A Saban NC team did lose to a Zook-coached UF but that was at L5U, which pretty much explains itself.

1st, UT didn't dismantle us. But that wasn't my point. That was CMR's CMR game for 2007.

The fluke was the string of miraculous wins they kept piling on that ultimately kept us out.

And the banged up LSU team that played in the dome had 0 shot vs UGA. A month later, who knows. That night, nada.

Edit- UT did in fact kick our arse. I stand corrected.

You sound like USC fans from the other LSU championship year

You lost to Kentucky when you weren't banged up. Everyone but apparently LSU fans declared UGA and USCw as the two best teams at the end of the yr.

Oh well, congrats on your 2007 title.

Because he lost two games to unranked teams.

Saban has done a magnificent job of sustaining excellence, there is no denying that. That said he has had A LOT of good fortune to accumulate the 3.5 titles he has.
