I really fail to see the problem with Kevin Steele.
I think people are clinging to this Clemson bowl game...
Nick Saban likes him a lot...
Great recruiter, very organized, he isn't stupid...
the Defense looked great last night...
Why should we mock or laugh at AU or Kevin Steele?
I think the man has earned some respect.
What LSU does next is interesting.
We have now lost 2 DC's 2 years in a row to 2 division rivals.

Earned respect for what exactly? Presiding over our worst defense since 1999? Holding exactly 1 opponent under 20 points? Going from a great pass defense to number 50, despite an improved pass rush? Not recognizing that the players were blowing assignments all over the place and failing to dial things back for 9 or 10 games?
I will give him credit for wising up and adjusting his schemes the last two games. And, unlike Chavis, he did work hard on the recruiting trail. However, that isn't enough to be a great DC in this conference, and that has been the foundation of our best teams. He looks like he is capable of average to good, but he will NEVER be a great DC.

That 7AM comment from most of us was fingers crossed and hopeful that MAYBE the D had turned a corner and we wouldn't see a repeat of the defense we saw 9 out of 11 games this season.
As for 11AM, the only reason the majority of us would have been at peace with him staying one more year was to solidify a lock top 5 class, and what could still be a number 1 class. Steele's recruiting is by far his best attribute.
Despite recruiting, I'm glad he's gone. O can hold this class together just fine. He isn't a great scheme guy, and doesn't adjust without lots of pain. It took him 8 games of mediocre to dial the excessive zone defense back. All I can say is, I hope you guys enjoy half a season of busted coverages and any QB with a pulse picking you apart over the middle.
