The best part about this will be how Herman will turn LSU down and the melt which will follow.
Then when they hire some second rate coach and he does poorly they'll blame Les for poor recruiting which will be the most bullshite ever

People on here saying we didn't treat him with class obviously aren't taking that into consideration.
You let him coach out the Season, he won you a NC and multiple SEC titles
Although I am going to thourghly enjoy watching Eddie O coach this team for 8 games. He went 0-8 in the SEC with 20 future NFL players on that roster

It's such an empty feeling. This feeling is much worse now than last year against A&M when it was the perfect send off game for him. Instead, Les being gone is after an ugly loss and the middle of a completely lost season with one of our most talented rosters ever that can't do much now.
Definition of bittersweet and a hollow moment. Feels like I'm at a funeral for a loved one who died from terminal illness and you're glad he's not suffering anymore but you still miss him.
Thanks for the memories Les. It's been a hell of a ride with you for these last 12 years either in pure joy and serenity or the most unfortunate of times. I will never forget these years no matter what for the rest of my life. I will always love that you were a great representative for LSU and Louisiana as a whole.
I wish you and your family a happy, joyful and serene retirement.

That comment reeks with racism.

Historic thread.
Les has been diminishing returns since 2012. His performance can be improved upon by any number of coaches.
Well said from an Arky fan. Not sure how people look at the last few years of LSU football and say this was anything but the right decision. LSU is far from immune to making a bad hire, but that doesn't mean you don't try to make a change. Les was done here. Anybody who couldn't see that is just being naive.

Ya he recruited those players and was fired before they grew up so to speak. That's why the nezt staff did well right off the bat. Long time ago and the USC interim job was impressive. They were in turmoil. Ppl still pissed he didn't get a shot. Esp with what happened after he left

By the slimmest sliver of time.
By that fraction of a second, Gus survives to coach another day, and Miles is out of a job.
Not by a good play by Auburn
Your logic is flawed.
The other 59 minutes plus the Wisconsin game set this not the final second.
I hate this for Les, I think he is one of the better men in the SEC. That said, I see this the same way I saw Richt. The powers that be felt a change was needed. I do not like it, but I get it.
And I am shocked that an Arkansas fan would make this about Auburn!
Gus is still on the hot seat, and I have to wonder if Bert sees many more blowouts, how long will it take for his to start warming?

Les Miles coming on the Dan Patrick show at the top of the hour FWIW

Why would anyone melt? Chances are just as great or greater that the next coach will be less successful than what you have already.
Evidently you don't watch LSU football without wearing stained glasses. The majority of other SEC coaches I'd take over Miles.
