quote:

“Somebody calls you and says, ‘Listen, I just got the head coaching job at Florida. I want you to come be my quarterback, and I’m not going to be fired,’” Miles said. “‘That Miles guy, he’s going to be fired. Handwriting is on the wall.’”

The instability of his job wasn’t the only reason Franks yanked his verbal pledge, Miles said. The hiring of McElwain, an offensive-minded coach, and the firing of Will Muschamp, who has a defensive background, helped too.

“They could paint a stable position, and I really … as soon as they got rid of Muschamp and went with McElwain, there was an offensive guy,” Miles said. “(The Franks family) felt like it was going to be different, and there was always a dark cloud hanging over my head as long as (athletic director) Joe Alleva was going to talk to the press.

I'm not defending Alleva at all, but does Miles discuss what the impact was on recruiting when he and his agent were flirting with running off to Michigan a few years back? That really paints a picture of stability.

He also blamed it on Mac for negative recruiting

That's just payback for telling recruits Lloyd Carr had a mental disease.

You have no evidence that Miles flirted with Michigan. Zero. That's pure speculation. I didn't like Miles as the coach, but there is no good reason to make up crap.

Yeah, 8 years earlier. Totally unstable.

Herbstreit didn't just make it up, dude. His superiors wouldn't let him go on air without him having a solid source (or two). I think Miles planned to take the job in 2007, but the story broke early and everything changed.

That right there .. is the funniest thing I've read in a loooooong time!

'If' today's journos needed solid sources, not much would be written. It's a FACT.+

From the play so far, Alleva did something right for a change.

What stands out to me in this is that Les Miles is capable of speaking in coherent sentences.

Per the Chris Landry podcast last night (and he knows what he is talking about as he was involved), Michigan had zero interest in Miles. Miles had tried to contact Michigan the entire week but couldn't get a hold of them. However, Michigan leaked the Miles to Michigan stuff to people near Herbstreit solely to throw up a smoke screen so they could calmly do the rest of their search over the weekend.

He's done a much better job of speaking coherently since he got the boot.

And on Alleva for hanging a dark cloud over his head with the media.

Miles had better be careful dishing out the dirt. That can go both ways.

LSU fans are like little children. The AD is pure trash.

Keep talking, Les. Just confirming what we all know about Alleva. Amazing how such a failure and a moron gets to such a high position.

Does he say anything about why he couldn't develop a QB his entire career?
