Ole Miss cheated. I'm not defending them, but I don't like this Leo Lewis deal at all.

A player getting immunity to snitch on a rival school opens the door to a lot of problems. I could easily see a desperate coach getting a player on his team to make up a story about a rival to try to save his job. Let's not become the Southwest Conference here.

He's not the only player to get immunity there was a kid from Bama, Auburn, and Georgia ive heard.

I am for giving everyone immunity. Let's get everything out in the open.

Please stop posting about immunity until you have some semblance of an idea about what it entails. This is getting embarrassing

So what if the NCAA heard enough about Leo taking money from Ole Miss that they approach him with,"hey, we know you took the money. Talk with immunity or we will go after your eligibility plus you will have to make restitution."

What would you do?

The thing you have to remember is that Leo Lewis didn't start this investigation. It was just a side effect of the investigation already going on.

I'm not attacking his character or what he did. I'm saying the precedent of using a rival player's testimony to indict a program could lead to problems.

It would be really bad for all but don't let your Bama hate cloud your posting.

Then throw them in too. This thread is about the precedent of the NCAA using rival players to indict a program not Leo Lewis really. He's just the one getting the headlines, so I used him as the example.

The people who think this is the first time that a player has given the NCAA testimony about another schools recruitment is naive as frick

I'm sure they have a lot more than just his word to back the allegations, otherwise I would agree with you.

This isn't a "new precedent". OM players were used vs MSU during the Sherrill years. I've heard it reported (I think Wolken stated this in an on air interview) that the same has happened with Bama and Auburn in the past.

Wasn't bama the first to do this? In fact, bama payed a former Auburn player to get Auburn in trouble.

No one from Alabama testified against Ole Miss. They were offered immunity, but Saban told his players to stay out of it.

What about a recruit misleading a school about his intentions of being an early enrollee, even going so far as to sign financial aid documents, then backing out at the last minute and signing with a divisional foe? Which school should be punished? The one who acted in good faith or the one who engaged in blatant douchebaggery?

How does nobody on here know how the immunity deals work?

The NCAA investigates a school. They gather evidence that suggests a violation occurred. They interview people. They get lied to. THEN they offer immunity to a kid at another school, to determine whether or not they were lied to.

None of the violations are based solely on the testimony of these immunity cases. They are based on evidence and confirmed by the testimony. And it doesn't work asking kids of the school you are investigating because A) they'd be more likely to lie to you and B) if they offer immunity to the kid, they can't charge the school with their findings.
