He's not a quitter. the SC administration asked him to step down. After all he's done for the program no way they aren't going to allow him to go gracefully. so he doesn't get "fired."

but they wanted him to go. at his age and temperament who knows how much longer he'd be coaching. turns a great coach into a liability.

He's doing what's best for the program, as you would expect. i'll bet it still sticks in his craw.

I kind of agree after watching the presser. I think he wants this Shawn guy to get a legitimate shot at being the head coach at USC.

I also find it interesting that he didn't say he was retiring but resigning. Is he going to take the rest of this year to rest up for one last run at a major university for another legitimate run at greatness before stepping down. Will he pull a CUM and move to USCw for one last rebuild? Is Texas begging him to come circle the wagons out west and herd up the Longhorns?

Who knows what is ahead for the Old Ball Coach?

He said maybe there is a high school out there that will let him coach. I can't believe he would take a dig at Tennessee like that if he really wanted to coach there.
