League Imbalance Update: The march towards 0-14

Each week we get a little closer to the inevitable 0-14 record for the East against the West.
Over the weekend, the West stretched its record against the East to 7-0. The average margin of victory thus far? It's a whopping 23.4 points per game. Only one cross-divisional game so far this season has been decided by single digits.
This problem is only getting bigger with each passing year. A time is coming when the league will be forced to do something about this. It's continually getting worse.
2009: West was 12-7 against the East (+5.3 point avg. margin)
2010: West was 16-3 against the East (+9.5 point avg. margin)
2011: West was 13-6 against the East (+10.2 point avg. margin)
2012: West was 8-7 against the East (+5.0 point avg. margin)
2013: West was 9-6 against the East (+5.1 point avg. margin)
2014: West was 11-4 against the East (+14.4 point avg. margin)
2015: West was 13-2 against the East (+10.6 point avg. margin)
2016: West is 7-0 against the East (+23.4 point avg. margin)
2016 now marks the 8th consecutive season that the West has bested the East in head-to-head competition, and it will in all likelihood mark the 8th consecutive season in which the SEC Champion hails from the Western division.
Those who want to say that these things are cyclical and then point to the league prior to 2009 as evidence are completely mistaken. The East was top-heavy at that time, but the league itself was balanced.
From 1992 until 2008, the SEC East claimed 11 conference titles to the West's 6. But the actual head-to-head record was an amazing 160-160-3. There was no issue of imbalance for the first 17 years. The SEC has only had unbalanced divisions since 2009. It's a growing problem that needs to be addressed.

The East is in shambles right now. LSU shitstomping the Gators won't help things either.

Which east team will get the first win over the west? UK over MSU, maybe?

If only Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Missouri, South Carolina and basically Tennessee had their own states to recruit from so their teams would get better.

May be our only chance

According to ESPN FPI, the only probable win for the East is Florida over Arkansas
90.4% chance Auburn beats Vanderbilt
83.2% chance Ole Miss beats Vanderbilt
75.6% chance Auburn beats Georgia
75.1% chance LSU beats Florida
59.0% chance Miss St. beats kentucky
52.7% chance Arkansas beats Missouri
47.7% chance Arkansas beats Florida
I think FPI is undervaluing Arkansas (#33) while simultaneously overvaluing Florida (#17). I honestly don't see the East winning a single game against the West this year.

I like that you're already conceding tDSOR

They will win one. It will be surprising when they do, but the east won't get blanked.

We lost to Vanderbilt. At home. Unless something changes I don't think we win another SEC game this year.

I predict AU beats UGA

I couldn't help but notice that in regards to Alabama this year.
We've completed our East circuit, finishing that off by outscoring them 84-16.
Alabama's defense and special teams scored 21 points in those games.

It will certainly be strength vs strength and weakness vs weakness in that game.

I figure at worst we go 1-1 vs the East due to the storm moving us to DV, 2-0 seems doable though as well.

Yeah, Auburn is going to destroy Georgia

I feel like this is a lead-in to one of your posts about how Auburn needs to be moved to the East, but that wouldn't fix anything. The real issue is that Georgia and Florida need to get their damn acts together. I hate Tennessee, but at least they seem to be trying. They just happened to pull A&M in one of their infrequent good years. Dawgs and Gators have no excuse.

Just another reason to move Auburn to the East. Someone has to stand up to those big bullies in the West.

He wants someone to reply to him saying how Alabama is so amazing and that they're just the bestest team ever and Saban is literally Jesus
