We lost a shite ton of games between 97-07, but we were in the vast majority of them. We were always so close to having a decent year.

Alabama's bottom of the barrel just isn't as deep as others in the conference. And on the other end of the spectrum, the sky is the fricking limit relative to the football elite.

2003 UGA/Alabama comes to mind. Was basically the exact opposite of 2008.

That's the exact game I was thinking of when I made my post. I was there. That first half was an absolute bludgeoning by UGA. Then y'all stepped off the gas and we scored a few worthless TDs in the second half to make the score look respectable.

Shula teams were a master of scoring points late to make the final score look less embarrassing, happened in several games I can remember.

Other teams let up on Bama to encourage y'all to keep Shula around.

Tubs was renowned for taking his foot off the gas, and it wasn't just vs Bama.

Tubs in 2004 and 2005 routinely sat on the ball in the second half and it cost us a national championship appearance and an Iron Bowl blowout in 2005. That Iron Bowl could have been a 42-7 game easily and although AI dominated the scoreboard said 28-18 at the end.

The 2003 and 2005 Iron Bowl Tubershells were incredibly frustrating examples.

That 2005 Iron Bowl should've been a blowout.
