You don't get trophies for sweet 16 apperances..... well maybe the faggies do.

Last National Title in Basketball:

Kentucky: 2012
Florida: 2007 (2006 back-to-back is f'n impressive)
Arkansas: 1994

Anyone else ?

Quote from the article you linked:

Whether it's having a history of unexpectedly early exits(Texas, Villanova), living on old glory days (UNLV, Arkansas), dealing with an extended absence (Michigan, Arkansas), or not practicing proper dental hygiene (Oklahoma, Arkansas), everyone in this list has a relatively major flaw in their resume

If you did this last year it would have been 1973. I was going to rag you about this post but now I feel bad.

Congrats on ending a 44 year drought.

Because A&M has great basketball history.

Arkansas:
6 Final Fours
2 National Championship Game appearances
1 National Championship
#1 seed 2 times
10 Elite Eights
11 Sweet 16's
31 NCAA Appearances
42-31 NCAA record
Record vs. A&M 100-54

A&M:
ZERO Final Fours
ZERO Elite Eights
ZERO #1 seeds
4 Sweet 16's
13 NCAA Appearances
11-14 NCAA record

This is hard to believe, and honestly unacceptable considering the strength of their program.

Same year we made the elite 8 for the first time. Beat #1 Stanford and Syracuse. Of course we played the eventual national champs, Uconn, who had guys like Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Marcus Williams, etc..

All we're missing is a fricking run to the final four.

Says the guy who's school claims to be a basketball school yet hasn't been to one in longer than LSU.

Silly comment, Sweet 16's are great benchmarks for every team. It's like winning 10 games in the regular season in football.

If you're a great program, you've made it past the embarrassing loss (ask Kansas about that), and now you can begin to prepare for a title run.
If you're a good solid program, it legitimizes the season (ask Michigan and South Carolina fans this year). At this point, the season is a success to build on.
If you're a lesser program (either mid-major or a big school in a 'down year'), you're now Cinderella.
