I think what's most astonishing to me is the amount of traditionally dominant teams who have bowl records very close to .500.

64 appearances. Not including two CFP national title appearances.

37-24-3 in bowls.

The traditionally successful teams usually played better teams in bowls giving them more opportunities for a loss. Almost beat up on themselves in bowl games

Bowl games are where good teams meet. Any team who has played enough bowl games is not going to be very far ahead of .500

FSU has the 4th most bowl victories (tied with Penn state and Oklahoma)
That's crazy considering we started football like 50 year after most teams.

Where are y'all getting your numbers? Looks to me like Bama had the most bowl wins by 3 prior to this season, and FSU was 9th in bowl wins, behind Nebraska, before this season.

Try CFB Data Warehouse. They're usually pretty accurate with the numbers and data and hella comprehensive.

Well, there weren't a lot of bowl games for a long time. You guys started getting serious about the same time there was a huge up swing in the number of bowls out there.
