Will probably be Bobo

Bobo has 1 year of head coaching experience (7-6) record at a G5 school.

IF Auburn decided to ditch Gus after this year, I'm sure the first thing on their list would be to hire a replacement who's career path is a carbon copy of the guy they just canned.

And would you consider it a good hire?

Good God, no. I know AU is your arch-rival but just, no.

Did she consider it romantic? I find that nothing screams romance like a tastefully executed dick pic.

I'll say that if things go south with Malzahn (which I expect him to get things turned around with good QB play), Jacobs will not be the one making the HC hire the next time. This would be a Jacobs type hire. The next coach would be proven: Patterson, Kelly, etc.

Jay Jacobs will absolutely frick up the hire if he's given the chance, though.

AU's next coach will have ties to AU.

Jacobs has no interest in purifying someone outside of the cult

since lane has such tremendous success as a HC everywhere else he's been..

myth

Lane was in the process of turning UT around. Top 10 recruiting classes and lost to Bama on a fluke blocked FG in a game UT had no business even competing in. Bama went on to win the whole thing.

Then he walked into sanctions and no schollys at USC.

IIRC, Jacobs used a search committee prior to the Chizik and Malzhan hires right? Bo Jackson, Pat Sullivan & Mac Crawford recommended Gus and the BOT & Gogue accepted the recommendation.

Jacobs doesn't have the authority to hire a HC all by himself.

Easy to hide one years damage. Lane would have to sign a 4 year contract and Big time Boosters can only lock up their wives for so long.

I don't think his experience will matter a great deal if the AD feels he is the right man for the job. UF just hired McElwain. UGA just hired Smart. AU is no better job than either of those two places. He would likely be the best possibly recruiter that AU could hire. Would be a huge headache for UGA and other programs in GA.

Jacobs will have nothing to do with AUs next hire. He was involved in hiring Gus.

Meh, all fanbases have some lunatics. His numbers speak to his ability offensively and he is a great recruiter.

They interviewed who Jacobs sent them. Jacobs is like Mal Moore. He wants someone with ties to Auburn, won't look at anyone else. Gary Patterson all but begged for the job before, but Jacobs treated him like some scrub coordinator that hadn't had head coaching experience before.

A lot of talk about Bobo. God, there literally might be blood spilt in South Georgia on the recruiting trail if that were to happen. Smart/Bobo/Muschamp all duking it out in Georgia and then you add in Saban and it'll get ugly.
