"One of the reasons I put Miami on there was I wanted to set the precedent for the future, that kids would not be able to go to Miami right away," Smart said. "It's very important you understand that. That's pretty much standard operating procedure when a coach leaves one place, that a kid can't go there with the coach. That's important to me that people understand that."

If a UGA graduate wanted to follow Richt to Miami, Smart wouldn't be able to stop it.

Ok so you know and I understand he can't keep a graduate student out of the ACC but do you not see the hypocrisy of all this?

This was said in March before the transfer request.

It would be hypocritical if Smart called Saban out on this.

He hasn't though.

May not be new but is certainly relevant to our discussions.

It's a shitty way to handle it all the way around and really only serves to hurt the kid. In pretty much every restricted transfer situation.

No hypocrisy at all. The kid that Saban is screwing over graduated from Alabama already. If you can't see that makes a huge difference, then you're in full Gump mode.

It's selfish. Why would anyone want to prevent a kid from doing what he feels is better for him?

But this is SABAN. Gotta hate something about him...unless he's your coach.

I wonder what Mark Richt would do?

Well until the kids get together and really make a stand nothing will change. I think the players should have a union to represent their concerns in these type of matters. If the coaches will almost always do what's best for the team and school then the players need a voice as well. Even though I would rather Saban to just release him to Georgia, the rules are in place and talk is cheap.

Look at all the Dawes rushing to defend Kirby. It is to laugh.

He clearly says it's to teach the kids a lesson.

He doesn't say what that lesson is, so the lesson they probably learn is "life's unfair when a rich white guy is involved in the decisions."

Probably a good life lesson to learn.
