I'm not going to stick up for Bama or UGA, but CKS might get them recruiting like Bama. I'm pretty sure he made connections working for Saban, and was one of the reasons they were pulling in top quality recruits on Defense. Bama was also paying him a mint of $ for a reason.

Our current classes are similar, so who knows.

If he continues to recruit like he is now, I'd say yes. If UGA gives him time and he can hold on to his staff(no homo) My guess is somewhere between 4-6 years

Nick Saban is the defensive guru not Smart. The epic cam back was when Smart handed over the keys to the bama defense. Smart will get the Uga defense torched

I wasn't in any of the meetings, and I don't know who did what - but they were paying the guy over a mil a year. My guess is, he did something.

I don't see how you can say that right now.

What makes him a better coach than Richt?

serious question.

I totally agree!! Richt always got stellar QB play and the Uga defense was never horrid. Smart will not produce a smidget of the offense that Richt had.

Plus, this is his first head coaching gig. People are thinking he will do like Gus and Horse teeth down in Florida and win an sec championship his first year. Gus and horse teeth are offensive guys and that is the reason why they did. Smart has pressure on him to win immediately because Richt did it constantly

If he doesn't, he's not a good coach. There is no reason not to win one in Georgia.

I haven't seen anyone say this. I think the expectation is that he not be dog shite, but that's just what I've seen.
I mean, until he proves otherwise, he was a homerun hire.

Uga bound to luck into one like other sec teams

This. If it happens it will be because no one saw it coming until about November of the year they win and will have to be due to a convergence of a few things.

1) Florida implodes late in the season....any season
2) A darkhorse in the East arises like a Kentcky or South Carolina who wins some games they don't usually win
3) An off year in the West wherein LSU, Alabama, Auburn and Arkansas are more or less equal to the extent that all of the above lose 2 games at least.
4) Smart has a monster recruiting year(s) in state. Georgia is talent rich overall and really ought to be more competitive but Georgia gets raided a lot by Alabama and even LSU

I say yes. It's just a matter of time before UGA wins one based on talent alone.

I was about to post about how I was confused given that all Bama posters seem to worship or at least give more credit than is yet due to Saban disciples Smart and Macklewang but then I saw your av.

Honestly, it all depends if he can get a good OC there. UGA will never lack for talent on that side of the ball.

I don't think UGA fans should have any worries about their defense. It will be nasty.

If he gets even an average OC, they should take home some SEC titles in the next few years. A good one, and I think an NC in 4-6 years isn't out of the realm of possibility.

At least competing for it. Too many factors to know for certain, obviously (injuries, players who are amazing leading teams that otherwise might not make it to even a NYD bowl, etc).
