ESPN
quote:

But the more serious charge of failure to monitor was slapped on Kiffin … and not Tennessee.

For Dooley and the current team, that’s a huge win.

The violations outlined in the NCAA’s report could end up costing the Vols some recruiting visits, limit who goes out on the road during contact periods and maybe even dock them a scholarship or two, although precedent in similar cases suggests scholarship reductions probably won’t be one of the penalties handed down by the NCAA.

Clay Travis
quote:

Kiffin has also been hit with a failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance charge. The levying of these two charges against the former coach rather than the Vol program represents a last-minute appeal by Tennessee to avoid the saddling of the program itself with the penalties. Instead, Tennessee deftly stepped aside and served up the head of Kiffin to the NCAA.

I'm pretty sure Alahunter said that an LOIC is still in the cards for Tennessee, and that the notice of allegations made public today does not look good for UT football.

I trust him more than ESPN.

he also said the free $3 cover charge at the Bar is a major NCAA violation and we'll receive the death penalty.

I'm giddy that UT threw Kiff under the bus.

I'm sure Kiffin couldn't care less. Will the NCAA actually do anything to him?

Maybe, they punished Neuheisel while he was at Washington for violations committed during his time at Colorado.

Thank goodness the guy left. I think we would have gotten our asses handed to us if he was still here.

I hope so. He only cares about himself. What an arse.

I did. I can tell you still haven't read the actual LOA.

They've been so spot on this past year with opinions and news, I can understand you balking at believing what they're saying.

As they should. Sickening when a coach and players commit violations and just move on while the school pays the price.

Did reading the LOA also inform you that the baseball team is "under the gun."

Considering the Tennessee football program wasn't implicated in the LOA (I've read all of it), I'm curious as to why you believe LOI is on the table?

I immediately acknowledged they were let off without anything. The fact remains, that there are 3 pages of questions and requests for more information being asked of Tennessee, by the NCAA in the LOA.

Fair enough, but I'd say you're reaching quite a bit. The investigation was 22 months long and they didn't even have enough to charge the football program with anything.
