SB Nation Recap

Two years ago I turned this game on expecting to see a pretty decent game. But I ended up watching one of the biggest mismatches I had ever seen in a basketball game. Kentucky jumped out on a 24-0 run and lead at the half 41-7. I didn't pay attention much after UCLA finally broke into double figures in the second half. It ended up being a 41 point blowout. Domination from beginning to end.

I know it's still football season for most of the fans here. At least it isn't another LF7 thread, right?

I made a Facebook comment about it and they reminded me of it today. I was beginning to wonder if UCLA was going to score.

No point, other than a pretty big blowout between two blue blood basketball programs. I thought it was interesting.

I think this is only like my 2nd or 3rd topic I've ever created in 6 years here. Maybe I should just stick to lurking...

Still one of the most dominant performances I've ever seen by UK over a name team. Just insane.

The game this past weekend was one of the best college basketball games I've ever watched.

Like Bama in football, Kentucky has consistently maintained its status as a blue blood in basketball. I'm not sure UCLA can say the same although I guess it's a debate they'd argue until the cows came home.

UCLA basketball is kinda like SoCal baseball ... it was totally dominant in the 60s and 70s because of the way the rules were written, the amount of scholarships given and the amount of priority (financially) allowed those programs prior to Title IX. The PAC 8 was dominant during those decades because of their big money, talent base and commitment to those programs.

I think it's dropped off some for them. Biggest reason, IMHO, is because of TV. TV hurt their fan support more than most plus they are three hours behind the bigger ratings market and kids these days want to play on prime time.

The game this past weekend?

UCLA now looks like Bobby Knight teams did in the past. I enjoy watching Alford coach. Wish somebody in the SEC could have landed him.

They're talking about UK vs. UNC out in Vegas.

I'm still not sure how that makes you think of the UK vs UCLA game from 2 years ago.

Doesn't really matter but I took that as him being confused on when UCLA and Kentucky played 2 weeks ago. The UK vs UNC game was a good close game so I'm not sure how that makes one think of a blowout.

I made a comment on facebook a couple of years ago while watching the game. Facebook sent me a reminder of that comment as a memory this morning. That is what made me think of it. I just remembered how good UK looked that day and I figured I'd remind their fans here of that domination.

I have a gift of confusing the shite out of everyone that reads my threads though. That's why I take like 4 year breaks between starting threads. Time to crawl back in the hole.

Ya, you explained something similar earlier which makes sense. That other poster thought just thought it was because of the UNC vs Kentucky game which doesn't really make sense.
