They've been claiming it for decades. This isn't new.

Great. Now CNS has to win another three to pass Bryant.

Thanks UK.

Texas A&M went from 1 to 3 championships overnight. Every player and coach on their two fake national championship teams were deceased by the time they claimed it from a poll that came out 70 years after those two seasons.

i don't give a shite about this one way or another, but that '19 team (and '17 for that matter) was undefeated and unscored upon.

It's sweet that you took the time to dig into this for a thread about Kentucky, though.

Which trophy would that be?

Yeah it's been in the media guide for quite some time. People are just now noticing because the hardware is in the new training center. I find it hilarious that a Mizzou fan of all people is bitter about it.

And frick the haters. Won the SEC that year with the one loss to UT and beat #1 Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. DWI. UK would've likely had a shot at another in 1977 if they hadn't of been on probation.

Which hardware are you talking about? Their only selection was Sagarin.

Its just so long ago and OU didn't even think the Sugar bowl was important.

UK snapped OU's 31 game winning streak. I'd say they probably thought maintaining that streak was a little important.

They had one made to honor the 1950 team.

I've posted this before but this is what each SEC program could claim based on the records book:

Alabama: 1925 26 30 34 41 45 61 64 65 66 73 75 77 78 79 92 2009 11 12 15
Arkansas: 1964 77
Auburn: 1913 57 83 93 2010
Florida: 1984 85 96 06 08
Georgia: 1920 27 42 46 68 80
Kentucky: 1950
LSU: 1908 35 36 58 62 2003 07
Missouri: 1960
Ole Miss: 1959 60 62
Tennessee: 1938 40 50 51 56 67 98
Texas A&M: 1919 27 39
Vanderbilt: 1920 21

Nothing for MSU and USCjr.

Seriously? Even we didn't do that for 1941.

Nah instead you just bolstered your title numbers for years in merchandise and everything else. Don't act like Alabama is above making a contested claim for a NC. You're the last fanbase that should be throwing shade.

Except there was a selector listed in the NCAA records book that existed in 1941 who awarded us. No need to get so defensive.

VOLS claim 1950 as well.

I'm sure there's a rivalry angle to all this but honestly I don't care if multiple teams claim it as long as claims are legit. It's not like shared championships are new.

Apparently this just got out recently. I think retroactively claiming titles 50+ years after the fact is ridiculous.

Is Bama gonna claim 1975 and 1977?

I don't really care since its somewhat irrelevant. It was a beauty contest for football teams 66 years ago. Today it is won on the field during bowl season by racially integrated teams, as it should be.

Mizzou has as solid a claim to 1960 as anybody. Some poll voted us champs that year, I forgot who.

Its just getting silly. Is Vandy gonna claim 1899 next?

And both of them are fake championships.

But please list the full seasons of both to support your case.

Negative. Check the actual records book and not Wikipedia.

I'm going back and claiming 1907 for the undefeated Carolina team.

Nah, not really. It's a claim UK has had but most didn't notice until they had the trophy made for the 1950 team (and it's been over a decade since Sagarin voiced his support of it). Kentucky fans just don't throw it around because it's so far removed.

Yet, you started this thread to bitch about it. shite happens, like 5 downs and things. Like I said, UK had a better team in 1977 that unfortunately was on probation so they weren't eligible for the post-season.
