Any chance he will come out of retirement and call the game for CBS? I can't imagine having to listen Verne and Gary frick up the biggest game of the year...

I am with you on this. I miss listening to Keith Jackson. Verne really sucks. He even occasionaly manages to drag Gary down to his suckage. IMO Gary would be seen for the quality color analyst he is if he were given the opportunity to work with someone like Keith.
Chance of Keith coming back for this one = notta.

CBS should hire Ron Franklin.

Was thinking the same thing, pair him with Gottfried again.

I don't understand why everybody in the SEC hates these two announcers. I personally don't mind them at all.

You must be the sole fan of Verne.

Keith Jackson was great... as long as he wasn't doing a Bama game, then he may has well have been drawing a paycheck from Tuscaloosa.

I agree. "Oh God, he mispronounced a name! My whole viewing experience is ruined!!!!"
"Gary said (insert SEC team) just made a horrible play!" He hates (insert SEC team). I wish CBS would quit blowing (insert opposing team's head coach)!"

For starters, Verne called Aaron Murray, Joe Cox during the Florida game last week. Gary referred to Murray as "Rodgers". Granted Murray played like Cox last week, but Cox has been gone for two years. And I'm assuming Gary was thinking Rodgers from Vandy, but goddamn, have they even done a Vandy broadcast?

If it were just mispronounced names, nobody would care as much. However, at least a couple times a game, they - both of them - get completely lost with regards to the rules, the rulings on the field, and what's taking place in the action. Quite often, we viewers would be better informed watching a game if the shut off Verne's microphone and just turned up the microphone in the stadium so we could better hear the PA announcer and the referee.
I recall a play a few years back when we played in Florida, and our receiver was running in for a TD, fumbled in the field of play, the ball rolled into the end zone, and he fell on it. No scrum. Nobody else around. Just him recovering the ball in the end zone. Danielson was completely bumfuzzled. Went on for 5 or 6 minutes about whether or not that was a touchback...should be Florida's ball...etc. Just weird stuff.
