Memphis City Schools' investigation into the transcript change that came to light last summer involving former Wooddale High running back Jovon Robinson

produced no other evidence of wrongdoing by other MCS employees

Sorry to burst your bubble but you might want to read the bolded part again. All this story says is that they found no evidence that other school system employees were involved.

It neither clears Robinson nor removes the possiblity that the counselors changed his grades at the request of someone outside the school system.

Where does it say Jovon Robinson cleared? It says "no OTHER evidence of wrongdoing by other MCS employees." Actually it admits to the grade changes. Please show where it says there is no evidence of wrong doing in the Jovon Robinson case.

bottom line is that he didnt have the grades for AU

Nor any other FBS school, which is why the initial interest and recruiting of Jovon by several major programs ceased.

Make a big mystery out of if you want. No argument the grades were changed.

It wasn't noticed until the kid got to AU, at which point AU informed the NCAA about the discrepancy. So if AU changed the grades and then told the NCAA, they must be a glutton for punishment.

Looks like the guidance counselor did this grade changing, and the kid didn't end up going to her school. She won't say who told her to. Seems like the jilted program turned this in

So if she won't talk, and JR can't get into school anyway, what else is there to do?

There was a similar case in Mobile a few years ago where the bammers were changing grades to make one of their recruits eligible. Then when he flipped to AU, bammer went running to the NCAA to report AU had changed the grades. Didn't work though. Think is was Nick Fairly.

as always try and deflect to Bama. The article clearly states..... MCS said an inquiry from the NCAA prompted the transcript's discovery, and Robinson was later ruled ineligible at Auburn. No mention that AU reported said grade changes. That was straight out of ITAT.

I thought Notre Dame reported the discrepancy.

It is important to remember that multiple grades were changed by two different people. Neither of the grade changers would talk and both have left the school system so it isn't surprising that the local school board hit a brick wall.

I don't think anybody knows who initally told the NCAA. The high school learned about it from Auburn when they called asking why the transcript was different than what they expected. I assume AU had an earlier copy with the higher score and the official one didn't match because the teacher had caught the grade change and fixed it.

This IS what happened.Grades were changed by Starks-Sykes to reflect passing grades. This is what was reported to AU.Lynch found the grade change and changed it back to the correct grade and sent it to NCAA.

A Memphis teacher noticed the grade(s) he had given Jovon was not correct. He 'reamended' the transcript back to the grade he had issued. This prompted another transcript to be sent out. Auburn had already submitted the falsified transcript to the NCAA, after which they received the update from Memphis City Schools.

Whoever urged the guidance counselor to change the grade(s) and does it connect to anyone who may be deemed a booster or coach is the question at hand. Will this ever be known...I doubt it.

If the memphis high teacher didn't notice the change(s), this sleight of hand would have likely gone unnoticed. The grade submissions are kind of an honor system, since the NCAA receives literally 1000's of these.

It makes me sick the way adults get involved in these kids' lives. Jovon may get to play football somewhere if he gets his grades up, but there will always be a question of what happened. Maybe it was someone in the school system trying to simply get him into school, any school. Maybe it was a "friend" of some program. What happened to making kids accountable for getting into school on their own without having school personnel pave their way for them? No wonder there are so many prima donnas. Too many grown men falling on their faces to cater to them.

Memphis Central High School coach Lynord Crutchfield, who coached Robinson at Wooddale during his junior and seniors seasons, said he met with an NCAA investigator last month about Robinson's transcripts. Crutchfield said the NCAA became aware something was amiss when Auburn officials submitted a transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center that was different from the one Notre Dame had for the player.

THis is what the ESPN article said at the time. Granted it is Schad and Schlabach, but still..

Regardless, I had always heard that the NCAA alerted Auburn of the discrepancy...
