John Chavis statement on defensive talent today

From interview:
quote:
Quote: And you throw Cunningham in there, who's another defensive end. I would take those guys and play anywhere in the country, all three of them. I don't think they mind me saying, we have two of the best defensive ends in college football. It's a big statement, but I'm not afraid to make that statement.
quote:
"The third year of me being the coordinator at Tennessee, we won an SEC championship, the fourth year we played for and won a national championship. LSU, the third year, we played for a national championship. We are as talented now as when I was at Tennessee or when I went to LSU. We will be improved, there's no question about that. It's not a lack of talent. We have work to do, but we have a ton of talent that fits places in our scheme."

Can't wait to see Chavis' defense with elite DEs

If only they could play corner and linebacker

Has Garrett recovered from the move Blake Sims put on him for that TD run?
Oh, and 59-0. And "third and Chavis".

LA Monroe agrees. Everyone else is laughing.

Reports out of camp are that Myles Garrett is learning how to take on a block from a TE.

I'm sure they'll do well in his scheme. No need to worry about putting pressure on the QB.

Chavis has seen a lot of talent at his previous stops. Because of that, this statement holds a ton of weight. Look out for A&Ms D this year

I can't wait to see Hawkins pancake his arse. Also Gordon drill him into the turf

cas might just kill himself if Chavis has big time success at A&M.
It must suck to have to hope that BOTH Steele succeeds and Chavis fails in order to be right.

Cunningham

No it is not. There was a thread here earlier that went missing asking for a report on how Chavis is doing in camp.
This answers his question.

Yeah his D is always good when he has good DE's. LSU fans say he won't do well but that is not true. He's a good upgrade in College Station

I didn't think he'd be included. That is some major praise.
Chavis clearly knows talent as he's coached a ton of it. I'm setting the over under at 20 for sacks between the 2. A push would be more than LSU had last year as a team. Why on earth could yall not recruit some talent for Chavis to work with?

I've no doubt he will be successful at aTm. Chavis is a great coach and yall have all the recruiting tools to make it work.
I just think LSU will continue to be better, as we have better players and will continue to get better players.
Plus Sumlin is overrated.
