Short recap for you

LSU/UF were scheduled to play months in advance of the date they were set meet

a storm was approaching that could compromise that date the week of the game

LSU attempted to create a fail/safe in order to have that game played on that weekend

UF thought they could take advantage of the situation, avoid the game, and profit

LSU said we can play you anytime, any day on that weekend...UF dug heels

That Saturday and Sunday multiple teams play in the state of Florida and all along the Gulfcoast while UF cancels the LSU game

Following week Sankey who got played by UF says the game has to happen...Joe says STTDB

Thanks. It was a hard thing to follow with all the bitching coming from both sides.

As far as decorum goes, Alleva stepped out of line. However, he probably didn't appreciate getting stiff armed the week before and saw that this weak arse commissioner could be manipulated. He saw an opening and he took advantage. He didn't win any friends around the conference, but there is no doubt that LSU came out with the better deal. That's why everyone is so rustled over it.

Just outside looking in, LSU didn't come out looking any better than Florida.

It's simple. Foley was extremely stubborn and inflexible to any suggestions, demanding that the game would only be played at UF on Saturday at the scheduled time. Nothing else would be acceptable to him. Once it went long enough that Stankey had to step in, there was nothing else that could be done that weekend so Foley wins for the weekend. Then, once he learns that he shot his team in the proverbial foot, tries to demand that the game is played under his conditions however Alleva calls his hand, knowing his own hand was better. Given Foley's stubbornness, why shouldn't Alleva have turned around and shown the same stubbornness to look out for LSU's, LSU's fans, and the local economies best interests? Why should the LSU community have to suffer for Foley's playing tricks and trying to manipulate the system the way he was? Alleva did his job well in this case.

What was the "fail/safe"?

We came out looking worse publically. What I'm saying is that we don't give a damn. Our AD, who most of us still are somewhere between ambivalent and cold on, came out the winner in this and earned some respect from us for standing his ground.

I'm still not a huge fan, but I am impressed with his survival skills. He was the definition of a lame duck last Fall after the president of the university stepped in and nixed his plan to fire Miles. Now that decision has been vindicated and he has this UF situation in his back pocket.

I really don't understand this. Florida did everything they could to make sure the game wasn't played.

These are emails between an LSU AD and LSU Board members very frustrated with the lack of effort on Florida's part to get the game played. Business emails between LSU parties that the media petitioned to get on the Freedom of Information Act. It would be a WHOLE lot more interesting for the media to use that Act to get the emails between Sankey and Foley (and/or any other SEC parties wanting to sway anything in their favor). Imagine if someone got hold of your personal emails with your gay porn subscriptions and put it out there. I'm sure you'd be equally as happy right? F*cking douche.

Florida's administration and the SEC handled this whole thing in a ridiculous fashion.

I'm still waiting for the SEC to list all of the "other options" that LSU supposedly shot down during negotiations.

There was no shot in hell LSU was playing three straight road games in November, nor should they. To think otherwise is asinine.

The compromise that was agreed upon is about as fair as they could make it. If Florida doesn't like playing in Baton Rouge, they should have planned better in the first place.
