I didn't care about announcers or production values. Growing up in a time where few games were broadcast each week, any game was a godsend.

I remember watching that live. I've never seen another Hail Mary like it. Look at all the Kentucky idiots run on the field during the play.
You can suck a dick and so can Devery Henderson for catching that shite.

I was in the corner of the field curled up in the fetal position crying like a bitch after that damn catch. Unbelievable play.

At least you own it. Still don't know why defenders don't knock the ball down in that situation. A win would have put Kentucky at 7-3.

Yup Tennessee used to finger blast whatever poor SEC team had the misfortune of playing us in front of Dave and Dave

Watching Woody McCorvey offense reminded me of Gus style.

Didn't Jamarcus Russell throw 15 TD's in one half against Moo State in a JP game?

The camera angles were so bad. I remember him rolling out and letting one fly as he got hit. The ball left the screen seemingly flying straight up. They cut to a closeup of the tight end in full stride near the goal line some 50+ yards down field with a guy on his back and the ball drops into his bread basket at the same rainbow trajectory. At the time I remember thinking it must have been the best pass of all-time

Dave Dave and Dave were awesome.

If by awesome you mean they were worse than small-town local UHF broadcasters, then yes.

You had to like the 3 Daves and the Lee Jeans play of the game.

The LSU Auburn game was one of the first I ever saw. I didn't get to watch many, as we were playing g usually.

Seemed like Tennessee, UGA, and Kentucky were on every weekend.

not sure where you're getting that from. Jeff Pilot, much like the SECN today, was typically the crappy noon/12:30 time slot that no major networks wanted. As for the teams you mentioned, in the 90s when the JP GOTW was at its heyday, the wins were:

UT: 99
UGA: 72
LSU: 54
UK: 44

TBS' first game was LSU at Florida in 1984.21-21.

Perhaps it was the first on a branded SEC on TBS package. But LSU-Tennessee and LSU-Tulane in '83 were on TBS and I think they TBS was even doing college football a couple of years before that.
