James Franklin has almost identical stats as JFF this season and they have played comparable opponents. James Franklin and JFF played roughly the same amount of time in the first game (JFF suspended half the game and Mizzou used second and third string qb in second half). Toledo was 9-3 in 2012 regular season and Sam Houston State was 10-3 and they played similar opponents. Rice was 6-6 while Murray State was 5-6 in 2012.

James Franklin stats:

Game 1 vs. Murray State
26/38 - 68.4% completion
318 yds passing
3 TD 0 INT
6 atts 44yds rushing (26 yds long)
Passer rating 164.8
QB rating 88.8

Game 2 vs. Toledo
16/25 - 64% completion
212 yds passing
1 TD 1 INT
17 atts 77 yds rushing (21 long)
Passer rating 140.4
QB rating 78.9

JFF Stats:

Game 1 vs. Rice
6/8 - 75% completion
94 yds passing
3 TD 0 INT
6 atts 19 yds rushing (21 long)
Passer rating 297.5
QB rating 84.6

Game 2 vs. Sam Houston State
28/41 - 68.3% completion
403 yds passing
3 TD 1 INT
7 atts 36 yds rushing (12 long)
Passer rating 170.1
QB rating 87.2

Why isn't James Franklin getting just as much recognition as JFF if they are playing at the same level?

Because in game 1 it took Franklin 375% more attempts to throw the same number of TDs? You really think that is comparable?

One is constantly surrounded by the media, while the other is playing at the same level in the shadows of the national JFF fapfest.

Bro, nobody had even heard of JFF for the first half of the season last year. It takes quite a while to get recognition. Plenty of players have great games. Great seasons are rare.

I think that has more to do with the talent of the rest of the team/receivers and the opponents secondary.

Not yet.

Gabbert defeated #1 ranked OU in 2010 and Daniels beat #2 kU in 2007 bringing the Mizzou to the national stage at #1. Franklin's time is here.
