That gif made a spring game thread worth reading. Funny and surprisingly accurate.

The Rant terrified of "What" Jalen Hurts could develop into as a QB. tFear on here palpable, especially if dude improved slightly on deep/intermediate ball accuracy. It's been so long since we had a returning QB....SEC POY at that!!

Who had a good Offense in the SEC last year, and how many players had eye popping stats ? Allen (7-5), Dobbs (major disappointment), Kelly (hurt), Guise (didn't start most of the year), Fitzgerald (5-7 team) and Pettway (missed or didn't play in 4 games). It is almost like winning be default.

He did do good. If Tua is as advertised though, Jalen shouldn't start his whole career at QB. Jalen's passing ability was a liability during the playoffs and it won't improve that much.

I get what you are saying, but Bama put up more than enough points to win they just got beat by a very good offensive team. He did lead the team down for what I thought was a game winning TD late, and with some work should improve his passing abilities.
I guess we shall see this year what he does.

What player would you have to choose from the top 6 Total Offenses ?

1 Alabama
2 Texas A&M
3 Missouri
4 Tennessee
5 Auburn
6 Mississippi State
7 Ole Miss
8 Arkansas
9 Kentucky
10 LSU
11 Georgia
12 Vanderbilt
13 South Carolina
14 Florida

Arkansas' running back, Guice, or even LF7, along with Dobbs of Tenn. and Kelly of Ole Miss, just to name a few.
Hell, even your guy, Pettway could be considered.

Ark (7-6), Guice (2nd String RB on a disappointing team), Dobbs (blamed for TN Offensive issues). Pettway would have been given more consideration if not for his injuries and the fact AU was 8-5.

Hurts has 10 times the potential Nick Marshall had. Nick Marshall was a running back with a strong arm. Malzahn in straight money with a scrambling QB and masks a lot of their inefficiencies with his veer option RPO offense. Hurts post fade against USC in his first college game was smoother than any throw Marshall made at Auburn.

I call bullshite. Both are inaccurate as frick and both had to rely on extending drives with their legs. That's where the comparison ends.

Call bs all you want, he still has a better arm and more potential. In terms of productivity today they're pretty equal but that's not the argument. Hurts will be drafted as a QB and Marshall was told as soon as he put his evaluation papers in that he'd play corner at the next level.

As a Bammer, I appreciate the thought, but honestly, Hurts will have to get a lot better throwing the ball to play in the NFL.

I also thought Marshall was a pretty decent college QB. I think Hurts will be better, but Marshall was pretty good for what Auburn needed him to do.

Marshall was a great college QB, I'd take him over numerous NFL caliber QBs when they were in college. But that's not really my point. Marshall played in what amounted to a Veer option offense, which is my preferred offense in college btw, I think Malzahn is money when he's got a scrambler. Hurts has a better arm, that's really not even up for debate, just watch film of him. I also don't think Hurts will be an NFL starter but he WILL be drafted as a QB because he has the potential to be. Marshall wasn't even asked to try QB, even Pat White got a shot at QB in the NFL. Of course, thats just my opinion on Hurts, but I'll be shocked if he isn't taken as a QB in the draft.

To be fair it was a late throw that Stewart was waiting for in the endzone. I agree that he will be a better quarterback but Marshall was perfect for them and got as close to winning a title as Jalen did.

Hurts' problem, and I said it before in this thread, is that he was just inconsistent. He does have the arm, and he has hit some nice intermediate and long routes of the receiver in stride. He also had problems reading the defense, but then, he was a true freshman, and I expect he will get a lot better.

I am trying to remember one and I am sure he did it a couple of times but you could count those throws on one hand. Let's be honest, he had a lot of improving to do with accuracy but more importantly, timing.

As noted, I expect Hurts will improve significantly by the season, but that said, I would also not be totally surprised if one of the other freshmen was starting by the end of the year.

Say that on the Alabama board and a few of the Jalen fanboys will throw a little fit, but I'm just an Alabama fan, and I care more about production than the number on the jersey.

That said, Hurts was better last year, as a true freshman, than Etling.

BS again. No way Hurts has a better arm than Marshall. The Hail Mary against Georgia went as far as it did with only a flick of its wrist.
He is also not near as elusive as Marshall.
Don't kid yourself if you think Hurts will play in the NFL as QB.
