I felt claustrophobic watching it. Lots of references to "the process".

Any question who his head coach is? That's the most bought-in 18 year old I've ever seen.

So that's what he sounds like.

I thought Saban didn't allow freshman to talk to the media.

He can't control that at the SEC championship. Or bowl game. They have required to be available to the media.

This might be the first he's let do so.

Speaks volumes.

Not if you understand that it's not Sabans decision

Did he mention the LSU D was the best he faced all year?

After every single SECCG and bcscg and playoff game, every single player has been available to the media, including every single freshman. It was not up to Saban -- conference and/or bowl rules.

The Plaxico Effect: Why Alabama freshmen don't speak with reporters

quote:

It was 1998, Saban's fourth year at Michigan State. At that point, he was allowing freshmen to talk with reporters on a regular basis.

The Spartans were 1-2 headed into their annual matchup with Michigan, but freshman star receiver Plaxico Burress was confident heading into the game.

We'll let Saban take it from here.

"He says, 'Yeah, going down there will be like taking candy from a baby,'" Saban recalled. "So, he just about got killed. They tried to kill him down there for 60 minutes in the game.

"We didn't win the game."

Michigan won, 29-17.

quote:

The only time Saban loses control of this policy is at the SEC Championship or at a BCS bowl game, both of which typically have an "open locker room" policy that overrides the coach's preference

Q "...how would you evaluate your progress...?"

A "The team has progress..."

Q "no, no, how have you progressed..."

A with that glare "The TEAM has progreased well."

Loved his answer and that look was priceless.

I was already impressed with Hurts. Even more so after the interview. That is one humble, respectful, articulate kid. The sky's the limit for what he can accomplish before he leaves Bama. Roll Tide Jalen

I watched some of his interviews from high school. His demeanor was strikingly similar to Julio Jones. He seems like a very quiet, nice kid.

The kid's got ice water running in his veins....quiet, thoughtful, shows no emotion, stays in control. This guy has the personality traits of an elite contract killer.

Jalen handled himself well for his first interview.
