My honest to goodness biggest hope is for LSU to hire someone like Jimbo Fisher. Your defenses won't be any better than they were under Chavis, he definitely isn't as good of a recruiter as Miles, and he runs a pro system and learned under Nick Saban. The only coach to beat Bama with a pro system is Les Miles.

Why would you bump this illogically dumb thread? What LSU did 25 years ago has absolutely no bearing on what happens going forward.

How can you fault us for wanting to improve?

Why stay stagnant?

College football moves largely in cycles. It's a lot more logical to assume LSU will resume its historical place in college football, as a decent, not elite program - than to assume they'll continue with the most successful stretch of football in program history. Sorry bout it.

Alabama ran off a coach with the following record:

7-5
9-3
10-2

They also threw a brick through his window.

Nice.

So you're saying that since LSU was dominated by Bama pre-1980, LSU shouldn't expect or attempt to elevate its program?

I don't think you really believe the two situations are similar.

Why not? Bama ran off a coach who was rebuilding and improving but because he wasn't "the Bear" he had to go - and face assault on the way out. Really, Bama people really have no room to criticize here.

Curry was on a short leash when he got here. Check out his record at Georgia Tech before he got to Bama. He was not a very good coach.

How many 7-5 seasons has Miles had?

What was I deflecting? I addressed the issue directly. Comparing the resume of Bill Curry to Les Miles is laughable.

Here is Bill Curry's year by year coaching record:

1-9
1-10
6-5
3-8
6-4
9-2
5-5
7-5
9-3
10-2
4-7
3-8
4-7
6-6
1-10
4-7
4-7
6-5
3-8
1-10

I don't think that's the point. If your program is basing a decision to fire its most successful coach ever primarily over his inability to beat Alabama - that's pretty short sighted and unwise.

And you're a smart enough guy to know that's what's going on. If it were any other coach than Nick Saban who had beaten LSU 5 times in a row, I don't think the heat would be this high - and I feel like any LSU fan being real would agree.
