If we go by the Bracket Matrix averages, LSU and Bama are in the 1st 4 out. Alabama actually has a better average seed than LSU. Either team losing is going to really hurt, but a home loss would hurt worse, especially considering Bama will also have 3 very winnable home games after, while LSU will have but 2 home games, one of which will be tougher than any of the Tide's. Good luck, Gentlemen.

I don't see how anyone could claim it wasn't bigger for LSU.

At this point in the season, winning home games is huge for teams looking to secure a tournament bid.

Equally as big for both with it being a "can't lose" for LSU.

It's big for both teams, but neither team HAS to win it.

But, I agree. Holding serve at home is important.

Agreed. If LSU loses they are possibly eliminated. Alabama can lose and still get in.

LSU is eliminated at 9-4 in conference play? Yeah, no.

13-5 in conference is prob. the min. target LSU needs to be looking at to be in come March

Likewise Bama needs to be about 11-7 as their min target to get in probably. 10-8 MIGHT do it with a lot of damage done in SECT.

They won't be anywhere close eliminated. They'd be sitting at 16-10 and still have 3 almost sure wins plus potential statement games against UF at home and UK @ Rupp. For them, losing would simply mean they'd really need to win @Arky and @UT to still feel pretty confident.

For Bama, the game's one of opportunity. They're supposed to lose so it won't hurt them in terms of RPI or perception (unless it is really ugly). Bama's tourney homes rest of their three remaining home games, @UGA, and the first round of the SEC tourney - but win this one and the SEC tourney might not matter at all.

Depends on the OOC.

SEC is down and 12-4 wasn't good enough to get Bama in back in 2011.

There's 18 games now, if LSU won the conference at 14-4 they are 100% in. Even at 13-5 LSU will be in.

With an RPI of 71, you can't be losing at home in mid February if you're on the bubble. I don't think LSU fans realize how much a non factor a solid in conference record is given the state of the SEC as of today.

Alabama has an RPI of 34 right now. A win puts them in a better spot than LSU and might cost LSU their spot on the bubble.

LSU could even get in at 12-6, depending on their performance in the SEC Tournament.

12-6 would definitely mean 2 wins needed in SECT

Bama's OOC schedule was pretty terrible that season.

Bama didn't have the future #1 pick that the committee is begging for a way to get into the tourney

not to mention LSU has good wins over TAMU and UK. Non conference record has been solid since getting Hornsby and Victor back. Committee looks at things like this.

I think this is a huge game for LSU but it is not a must win to make the tourney.
