It sucks for LSU that Aggy upgraded it's DC.

But I am honestly not sad to see him leave. Our defense in the bowl game was just like the Auburn and MSU games. . .which was like last season's defense.
perhaps this move is best for John and LSU.

I think it was just time. If Chavis leaving means that the defense takes a step back simply from changing scheme and being in transition, then that should mean the offense would have to step up.

I think Chavis is a great DC, until he needs to stop a team when the game is on the line, then he gets soft, and brings no pressure.
As for the Bowl game, he coached like a guy on the way out, no changes at half time. Stayed with 2 linebackers when they were running up the gut, and bring ing heavy sets. I don't know how you can excuse that kind of playacting.
It sucks that A&M is getting a great DC, but they will have similar problems.

He's a great DC, but his time has come to move on from LSU and LSU to move on from him.
Can't say I wish him the best though.

Unlike us, however, A&M can actually pass the ball.
I think this is worth mentioning.
Chavis has saved our arse costantly. Maybe he's just finally tired of doing all the work. Our offensive stats support it.

can't pass the ball when you are on the sideline.
Of course, clearly that problem is a much better on ethan what A&M currently has.

He's going to LOVE Aggie culture.
Chief and The Cheer Boy Cult. I give him two years.

Kinsey says that deep down, we all love Aggie culture to varying degrees.

A rational LSU fan.

for every close game he has won, he has lost a close game, and lets not pretend there haven't been blowouts.
We scored 28 today, and Chavis let them march all over us because he wouldn't make an adjustment to our BASE defense.

The same man who we literally rode on to a NC appearance.
I'm not saying Chavis was perfect. No one is. However, when your offense is as consistently bad as our is, and our 'breakout' games are only against unranked teams/rent-a-wins...
I can't blame the guy for bouncing. I'm sure teams with actual offensive production must look rather attractive right now.
