This is what disgusts me on this board. The OP asks a legitimate question and gets a few responses that actually attempted to answer his question. He also receives an insecure Bama and TAM fan that want to remind us apparently that Bama is good in football and that TAM won fairly easily last year in Columbia, SC.

Thanks for those responses because none of the rest of us knew those two realities.

All schools on the Rant have these fans ( LSU has many) so I'm not picking on one or two fan bases. The clutter gets old sometimes and if you are compelled to troll at least be clever in your attempt.

I've honestly never been in a more empty competitive SEC game environment in my life than the second half of the TN and SC game last year.

Your fans certainly gave up on your team then.

Sounds like 11-13 spoiled you and may have ruined the one thing you all did do well!

Tennessee fans try so hard to talk shite about South Carolina. It's like we're the one team they can talk shite to anymore

Don't let me bust your bubble Eric, but what happened last year (and I was there on the 50 yard line sitting right behind the SC bench all the way through overtime with my Son) ... what happened last year was a freak of nature, literally.

The day started-out strange. An unexpected cold front moved in overnight that no one called for ... we woke up that morning to almost a foot of snow, the earliest snow in the history of the state. It was a bad omen from the get-go. I was posting pictures of my yard and my house at 5:30 that morning here on the board - the snow was unbelievable.

We're not used to that down here. A lot of people had come the night before and stayed in Columbia as always. Then this cold front moves in with a vengeance ... with wind, it must have been ten degrees or less in that stadium by halftime .... we're just not used to that down here. All I had on was a t-shirt and a Gamecock wool pullover and I almost froze ... but I'm tough, hard as nails, an ex-paratrooper with incredible physical and mental hardness ... so I endured for the sake of my Gamecocks.

Not even my Son or I were able to pull us through though ... you can't overcome dumbassery and SOS was a dumbass that night.

The Tennessee section was almost empty as well - it was cold as frick ... but you yankees are supposed to be used to it.

Of course, I wouldn't expect you to tell the whole story and be honest about it.

In the meantime I lulz at all the times, over the past ten years, when that sardine can of an erector set stadium y'all've got up there on the river had less than fifty thousand at startup, much less halftime in the freezing rain and wind. Nevermind, I could go on and on but there are actually some good Vol fans around here ... and this is more about you.

So fans leave early during one game and now we have a reputation for it?

hey mr. putswordsinotherpeople'smouths...I don't think I ever said you had a reputation for it.

I was simply responding to that one particular post. Blaming the cold on poor attendance isn't some freak of nature occurence, it gets cold everywhere. SC has a pretty stout reputation for unwavering support...it IS ok to admit that one time yall blew it. It happens.

Ask LSU and Ole Miss last year.

We were the loudest 0-fer SEC team in the history of this league.

The place was packed, sold-out, to begin the game.

We were kicking arse at halftime ... so fans did not leave because they were upset with the game.

It was the coldest game I can remember probably since the '95 UF game.

Sure ... whatever, arrange it however you want. It almost never gets that cold here during football season. It was what it was. You had to be there to understand I guess ... but you call it how you see it. We're piss poor fans, meh, whatever. We suck yada yada.

lulz

frick it

this is when you know someboyd has ran out of rational arguments. They resort to making up things out of the clear blue sky and facetiously trying to turn things around on the other person.

I have never once said anything negative about SC's fan turnout. Never said it was piss poor, never said it was meh, never said it sucked. But if that's what you took away from my posts, well...idk.

People say that, but I think that is more legend than anything else. Contemporary reports contradict Cocky's mantra.

Well, it isn't just one.

This one was marred by dropped passes, a missed interception and costly penalties that kept a mostly garnet-and-black clad crowd subdued—and steadily shrinking by the fourth quarter. Spurrier couldn’t blame them for leaving early.

So the less loyal fans attend bowl games? I have no idea and don't really care. I just think this idea that there are some super fans out there who show up during arse kickings and never leave games is BS. Everyone does it. It is human nature.
