I truly think that Bama's 2011 team that won the BCS title was significantly better overall than this year's iteration.

They are likely the best team in college football by a decent bit, but I think the team in 2011 was much more proven.

They played a tougher schedule, and while they lost to LSU in the first GOTC, no team they'll face this season comes close to being as good as 2011 LSU.

What say you SEC Ranters?

Overrated team benefiting from a donkey dick show of a conference; would be 8-4 in the 2006-2010 SEC era.

Yes. It is his second best Bama team. They'll be the first CFB team to go 15-0.

They would have a much better chance of losing a game, but

ETA: solid LSU fan impersonation?

Probably, and probably the biggest surprise of any Bama team under Saban. No one thought the defense would be this good after losing several starters, and everyone assumed the offense would take a step back.

2009 squad was much better across the board and played tougher competition. A good bir of scores didn't really reflect it, but I believe that was only 1 of a handful of teams that have ever beaten the #1 and #2 (final) ranked teams in a row in the same year.

I don't think so.

The 2011 LSU team only had a good defense. The offense was shite.

2009 was his only undefeated team, anywhere.

I'm surprised how productive the offense has been with all the youth. The offense only loses a TE and maybe an underperforming OT and they'll be even better next year.

Defense doesn't surprise me a bit. Saban has been shifting toward a faster/lighter defense since Manziel shredded Bama. The good news this year is it won't be a problem in the post season. There isn't a team with a chance at the post season that can run it downhill like teams 5-10 years ago.

I think it is the best team.

2011 defense may have been better against certain teams, but were built different for a different purpose. This years team is better against the dual threat and the RPO.

This offense is way better. Much more dynamic with quality skill position players all over it. This is the first year I can recall CNS' team avoiding the Oct/mid-season offensive slump (LSU game wasnt a slump, so much as just a really quality D) where the defense and kick team absolutely had to win field position iot win the game.

STs were much closer with Jackson returning kicks, but that return game and PK 2011 were better (at least in the GOTC II).

All the said, collectively those parts of this years team have produced a better overall level of play than 2011 IMO.

We were last in the SEC and #116 in the country this year as far as the combined experience of our returning players.

Sounds like you're trying to compensate for losing to this Bama team by "beating the greatest ever Saban team that one time in the regular season".
Stop. Just stop. This is an amazing Bama team, don't try and compare them to others

I think it's the fourth best at the moment.

1. 2011 (I still think this is the best college team I've ever seen. The D was flat out criminal. Once AJ got healthy in November, the offense was finally what it needed to be.)

2. 2012 (Go look at the final defensive stats, unreal)

3. 2015 (This is an at the moment pick. We were deeper up front on D, healthy Jackson, we could actually pound it between the tackles and Coker was a better passer than Hurts during the final 5 games of the season. Coker had a rocket for and arm and once healthy in December, he was a different player.

4. 2016 (Still questions about our ability you physically pound the ball between the tackles and the combo of Hootie Jones and Tony Brown is going to be a major liability once the playoffs get here. Also Hurts passing is pretty meh)

5. 2009 (We won ugly that year but 14-0 is 14-0)

6. 2013 (Don't wanna talk about it)

No,
your schedule means jackshite. It's how you play. If you're good enough the schedule doesn't matter one iota.
Sabans best teams. 2012 was actually his best.

this team has done a better job of just looking at the puzzle pieces on offense and putting in plays they can execute. They are a great spread team on offense. Run-pass option, jets, QB gun runs, etc.

The defense may not be as talented on the back end as 2011, but they are stacked deep up front.

So LSU fired the only coach whose team beat Saban's best ever team?
