While I too am tired of all the Bama-LSU talk on this board, I finally caved in and checked the updated-for-2015 all-time team rankings to see how this game stacks up nationally for comparative purposes.

Based on the all-time team rankings from this LINK, it looks like the Notre Dame-USC game is the only annual game in the entire country that averages higher ranked teams than Bama-LSU.

All-time highest ranked teams:
1) Alabama
2) Notre Dame
3) USC
4) Oklahoma
5) Ohio State
6) Michigan
7) Texas
8) Nebraska
9) LSU

Annual games between those teams* :
1) #2 Notre Dame vs. #3 USC (average team rank of #2.5)
2) #1 Alabama vs. #9 LSU (average team rank of #5)
3-tied) #4 Oklahoma vs. #7 Texas (average team rank of #5.5)
3-tied) #5 Ohio State vs. #6 Michigan (average team rank of #5.5)

* - #8 Nebraska's current permanent opponents did not rank high enough all-time to measure here

I would say Bama/LSU passed USC/ND as the premier game every year. Historically, no doubt. The last 6-8 years Bama/LSU has been the epicenter of CFB.

He made a statement that may be a little too bold but when you think of it, seriously, the last 6-8 years have seen Bama & LSU coaches >>> Notre Dame & USC coaches even though ND and USC have still been winning programs for the most part. I mean, Charlie Weiss/Lane Kiffen/Sark, etc. may win most of their games but Saban and even Miles are much better coaches than them.

That's seriously the best name for this game I've seen- perfectly apt.

There's more than ND/USC out there though.
