It looks like Bama is primed to be national champs but could very well not be champs of their own conference. How ironic would it be for that to occur and the actual conference champs beat you head to head? Ole Miss is the SEC's worst nightmare right now. So there are two choices: live in a world where your national champ isn't even the champ of their own conference and lost to the conf champ h2h in the regular season at home or give Ole Miss a chance at a rematch in the playoffs. SEC Rec and ESPN about to get busy.

Been there, done that in 2011 and it was wrong and ugly. A non-conference champ doesn't belong in the playoff.

Selection committee may not let that happen.

Anyway, still lots of football to be played.

Apart of me wants LSU to win so a victory over the Tigers would look better for Ole Miss.

Why would they care the system was manipulated to have that happen already?

With a playoff, this becomes a little less of a big deal. That being said, the playoff was 4 conference champs last year and the argument seems to be which Power 5 conference gets screwed.

I think this is very likely... Ole Miss wins out, beating LSU at home. Bama wins out. Florida wins out. And Florida might beat Ole Miss again. Then you have 1 loss Florida SEC champs and 1 loss Bama... Only one team will be undefeated from Big 12, Only 1 from the ACC (Clemson) and only one from Big 10. So does committee pick Florida or Bama at that point???

No. Not as long as there are conference championship games.

The best team in the country doesn't lose at home to the conference champ

A two loss SEC champion would presumably have to have beaten Bama, LSU, and Florida, so they'd deserve a playoff shot more than Bama. Reality. Suck it.
