Because I was just at the Macarthur Trophy presentation at the CFB HOF and Saban 100% announced it. Nessler (who was hosting the event) had that "oh sh*t" look on his face when Saban said it too, like everyone knew but it wasn't official and then added some nervous chuckles before quickly moving on.

Ah, ok. I knew the Nessler to CBS part was official, but I didn't know if the Nessler to replace Verne part was.

I think it's all but official. Thank God.

No Verne?? What will become of Saturdays without his screw ups for entertainment? I fear the end of CFB is nigh.

Nessler needs to move to the JP time slot so I can hear him call another Carolina game.

Now get Blackledge to replace Danielson and we will have the best team calling games each week.

Verne is an underrated broadcaster. He does a great job and I'll be sad to see him go. That said, Nessler is the best in the business in my opinion. I'm glad they found a suitable successor.

They really need to replace those guys that did the Arkansas-Ole Miss game last year. No other announcer could have sounded so bored by a 4th and 25 conversion.

I thing Verne is an icon and I consider him one of the best. Whenever he leaves he will be missed.

I hope CBS creates a Verne soundboard for future announcers to use

My understanding was Verne was doing this coming season and Nessler was doing NFL games and will take over Verne's spot in 2017.

Now Verne can perform fellatio on bama players during halftime like he's always dreamed

Carter Blackburn and Aaron Taylor. Jenny Dell can stay though.
