Because they looked slow and unathletic against N. Texas.. No flame, but they better step it up against real comp.

Run blocking was fine but pass protection needs to find another gear, for sure. Zach was hurried/hit way too much I think.

I think the UW game will be more indicative. With the hurricane practice was cut short and the players were most likely focused on other things. We'll see this Saturday.

3 starters on the OLine missed several weeks of practice to nurse injuries

You could take that sentence and put "AJ" in for "Zach" and you would be perfectly describing our OL too.

I think pass blocking is way more a product of a line working together and knowing each others tendencies than run blocking is. This can only come with more starts as a unit. Our line is all veterans, but some of the positions have been jumbled up some and I think that makes a difference.

Also I think pass blocking is more physically demanding than run blocking for big guys.

Just comparing and contrasting the games against N.Texas and Michigan, respectively, the LSU Oline looked sluggish, whereas Bama's Oline seemed big, agressive, and quick.. I am partial, but I call it like I see it. Had LSU and Bama faced off in the first game, it would have made 1/9 look like a walk in the park for LSU.. The Tigers better step their game up, and I know they will..

To be honest from what I saw of the Bama Michigan game I don't think Bama's pass protection was any where near as good as what was expected during the preseason.

Likely caused by the switching of player positions on the line.

I also saw AJ bail out a little quick on a few occasions.. Overall, it was a net positive, as in no INTs, but I do agree they weren't excellent in pass pro.. P.S. AJ has quicker feet than you expect in escaping the rush. The guy is almost "elusive"..

Getting motivated for big games is a lot easier than playing somebody like UNT. Bama looked sluggish in their first game against Kent St last year. The same for lots of other big teams. I bet the LSU staff and players focused more on preparing for Washington, than they did on North Texas.

I only want to watch an OL with Josh Dworaczyk starting in it. He must be on the field as long as he is healthy! He's probably the oldest guy on the team, most mature, and has the most experience. He spent the entire last season watching his team compete against great defenses of all sorts. Easily a top 5 player on the team IMO.

I watched the game in replay and said the same thing. If they allowed Mett to get hit that many times against N. Texas he will get taken out against a team like Alabama.

They better protect their QB.

Our pass pro wasn't stellar. Normal Game 1 kinks. LSU will be fine.

If I saw one chink in TJ's armor, he needs to square his shoulders up when taking on blitzers/rushers.

Most of the pass protection problems was on blitz plays.Running in new rb s all game was not helping there.the big hit on mett came from the corner and mett should have seen it coming.I think as the next few weeks go by they will get the kinks worked out.

That Mean green DB worked his kinks out I'm hoping the guys, with more practice, rest and focus improves pass protection considerably.

Hurst has an ankle injury. FWIW Miles said RSF Vadal 6'6" 340 will see more playing time. Apparently the ankle is worse than he has been letting on. Which is typical for CLM.

Saw the same thing at Bama at times. Looked like missed assignments. I didn't see anyone getting straight up beat too badly.
