Is the game this weekend bigger to aTm than any game against Texas?

Serious question. You've played Texas 100 times or something? Surely you had a bigger game vs Texas in your past.

This game isn't even for control of the west. Does it trump all of the Texas match ups?

I don't think UT and A&M played each other while both ranked in the top ten in some time.

So, probably.

What? You act like I'm an aggie fan or something. I never paid attention to your games before you joined the sec. I'm curious.

They sacrificed their Code for this game, would never have done that for Texas.

The Bonfire game was the most important game in A&M history and always will be. Winning the BCS national title game still wouldn't carry the emotional significance of that win.

In terms of ranking significance, the 1975 game between #2 A&M and #5 Texas was at least as big. Now in terms of media coverage this week takes the cake.

NO. This is the first conference game. It is a long year. Plenty of the Texas matchups determined the spot in the Cotton Bowl. That was not potential, that was end of season finale.

However, the media exposure is bigger for this game. And it could be a jumping off point into future success this year and beyond. So, potential implications could be bigger. But that is just potential. Still have other games on the schedule after that.

Since the mid-60s, A&M and Texas have played with both in the top-10 three times.

The 1985 game which decided the SWC champion was pretty big too.

I doubt any games against ut meant as much, nationally, to both teams. Also, I don't know for sure & I'm not gonna bother looking it up, I doubt ut and aTm ever played when they were both ranked in the top 5.
So I would say yes, probably the biggest game ever

Refresh my memory. I remember the bonfire falling a ways back. Who did you play that week? Was it Texas?

If asking you guys what the biggest game vs Texas you can remember being at Kyle field is trolling, then I guess I'm guilty?

In my 26 years this is bigger.

Football in general is bigger, though. So much bigger. More people, more money, more media--everything. No one gave a shite about the old Southwest Conference. And while in the Big 12, we failed to compete for a title during most of our membership. Hell Texas has only had big-time goals hinging on the game's outcome a handful of times in the last dozen or so years. During my lifetime the game has rarely had significant implications. It's just about bragging rights and occasionally (rarely) thwarting Texas' chances at a BCS bowl.

If TAMU wins this game, we immediately become the favorite to win the West. That alone has to put it above most any Texas game I can remember. Sure, Bonfire was significant--but only for TAMU and Texas. It didn't matter to anyone else. Same goes for 2011.

Fair enough.wasn't a troll thread. Didn't have a clue what kind of big games you have hosted recently.

Im not downplaying the game at all. Can't wait to watch personally.

This is the biggest football game aTm has ever played. In fact, it will be bigger than they can handle. Expect at least 3 aTm turnovers and a couple of busted coverages for Bama TDs. Bama will do to aTm Saturday what Tejas did to them for a century.

Yes, we played Texas the next game. We were #24 and they were #5.

Game day was there yes? Vague memories.

This probably gets the same amount of press as that game, but this is a superior football matchup for sure.
