We hear the arguments in football every year. Is there a media bias towards our baseball programs too?

Good series, MSU.

no different than Pac 12 softball, you'll have some down years. SEC baseball is not overrated.

Agreed. If it was so overrated we wouldn't have all these teams in Super Regionals. And it's not just the SEC's national seeds having trouble either. It's going on across baseball.

Three game series are just not what baseball is made of. It puts a tremendous about of pressure and skews numbers. The shorter the series, the greater the opportunity for upset. If these were seven game series, the better team would win more often. No different than the NCAA tournament, any given day.

I don't see how having 5 teams in the final 16 makes a conference overrated.

Well, a certain SEC baseball program has won the CWS and finished as the runner-up in the previous two seasons. Don't lump that team in with any you are accusing of being overrated. That nameless team has cold, hard results to lean on.

Let's take a look at the Power 5 conferences in baseball.

SEC: 7/14 made the tournament (50%), 5/14 to supers (35.7%), at most 3/14 to CWS (21.5%)

ACC: 10/14 made the tournament (71.4%), 3/14 to supers (21.5%), 1/14 to Omaha (7.1%)

Big Ten: 3/14 made the tournament (21.5%), none advanced

PAC 12: 4/12 made the tournament (33.3%), 1/12 (8.3%) advanced to Supers, 1/12 (8.3%) to Omaha.

Big 12: 3/9 made the tournament (33.3% - only 9 teams play baseball), 3/9 made the supers (33.3%), 2/9 to Omaha (22.2%)

The sec had 9 teams in the last 8 championship series. The conference is not overrated.

Where is this media bias coming from? What national media even talks about college baseball enough for there to even exist a bias or an idea of being over rated? I don't think any aspect of college baseball would ever be over rated.

SEC is very overrated. If they were as strong as everyone seemed to believe they would have showed better throughout. The West Coast got zero respect. If the SEC teams have .500 records (like a lot of good the Pac-12 teams this year) then everybody down south would be saying that the SEC teams are strong and they just keep beating up on each other. If one team or two teams gets bounced I would agree that it could have been just a bad weekend. But all the teams showing poorly? That's more than a coincidence. Especially when a lot of these teams are at home hosting. SEC was a little overrated this year and the West Coast Schools definitely were underrated

SEC is WAY overrated. Fact... that's it. Look at the results!!! They had so many teams that had opportunities to make it and came up short on almost every single one. Especially when all those teams are HOSTING REGIONALS AND SUPER REGIONALS at home. That's about as overrated as you can get if nobody is winning.FACT!. If the Pac12/Big West had as many teams in regionals as SEC schools then you probably have the same amount of West Coast Schools in super regionals as SEC schools. If you throw enough crap against the wall, some of it will stick. So your "regional success" argument is garbage. Definitely more like lack of success.
