Many intriguing jobs are opening up, Dak is about to graduate, Jones is about to leave for the NFL Draft. I don't really know of any major recruits or players waiting in the wings to step up and replace this current roster. Plus we all know Ole Miss is only going to get more difficult to face year in and year out with Freeze 90 miles up the road.

Seems like Mullen is ripe for leaving.

He's stuck there. He missed his window. He was unbelievably hot a few years ago, waited too long, and now is an after thought. Also, after Foley buried him last off season, he has question marks that make him a tough sell.

Why leave? OM is about to get hit hard with probation so no kids from Miss will want to go to that shitshow.

Terrible analysis. Mullen is only 43 and has worked miracles in Starkville. I was just up there, they have an actual program now. It is night and day compared to 10 years ago.

We'll see. Based on what I've seen, he has Ferentz disease. Foley's comments are a massive red flag.

Is Foley the be all, end all for what we should think about Mullen? The people at MSU seem to have good things to say about him. He seemed to be liked enough at Utah and by Urban Meyer to be brought to UF. For whatever reason Mullen & Foley didn't mesh but I'd hardly say that's conclusive evidence that Mullen is damaged goods.

mullen didn't care what foley thought about anything football wise. i think he insulted him a time or two, also didn't like open practices, etc.

Just because you don't know their names doesn't mean there isn't plenty of talent waiting in the wings, you probably couldn't have picked Dak out of a lineup 2 years ago.

Ole miss is not under investigation anymore. All they could find was one player with some rental car issues.

So red flag is now "conclusive evidence." Gotcha. All you need to know is that Foley's contempt for Mullen is so deep, he hurt his own coaching search to make sure Mullen couldn't leverage the Florida opening for a raise at State. Think about that. Whatever Mullen did at Florida was so bad that Foley would rather overpay for McElwain and damage his own search, than let Mullen take more money from State. That's insane. I wish someone would report the inside story.

He is at $4MM. I don't think he would leave for a million bump. Someone going to pay him Saban money? Don't think so.

Um you sure about that buddy? Mullen currently makes more than the Florida coach.

I think you misunderstood. Foley made sure he couldn't use the Florida job for leverage. Muschamp was fired on November 16. The next day, probably right after shoving Muschamp out of the athletic department building and into the street, he declares that Mullen won't be a candidate for the Florida job and says there are issues that would prevent him from ever being a coach there. That is before State did anything with his extension and raise in public.

With UGA's recruiting pipeline, he could probably do better than Richt at Georgia.

He's a good Christian man who is involved in charities, so that block of the fanbase would be satisfied.

I'd take him.
