Is "most definitely, 100% not a face mask" a defensible position?

This face-mask subject is almost a year-old, but this SI article was just written this morning. What say you?

I could not help myself so I had to comment. I mean how in the world could a writer be this bias and blinded? I understand homerism, but even Alabama fans shouldn't be able to deny the facemask... LINK
Am I wrong?
P.S. I clearly understand that refs are gonna miss things every now and then so it isn't about the missed call, I just can't believe the writer's position

Isn't the real crime trusting I'Tavius Mathers with the ball in the first place?

It wasn't a face mask
He had his fingers in the ear hole

A year later and Ole Miss fans are still flustered by an non call that had no impact on the game. What an irrelevant topic of discussion on July 28 2015

Thanks for your input, Patton! Very enlightening! So just for clarity, was your response that it is or isn't a defensible position?

Just like when the guy from Ole Miss ripped the face mask off Leonard Fournette's helmet and it didn't get called either?

I'm pretty sure they called that. Fail.

Now Cajun, I don't know what evidence there was that anyone ever touched Fournette's facemask?

Serderiously, that article was dripping with sarcasm.

My bad, you're right. I just rewatched and it did get called.

Don't get upset by anything you read on Fansided. It's Sports Illustrated's collection of the most delusional and stupid fan bloggers from each school.

My response is that you are dumb. This thread is dumb. Didn't we literally just have a thread on this? Next time you are perusing Alabama centric articles about our upcoming season, do us all a favor and don't make a thread about it. Especially if the whole point of your thread is to ask if one, obviously sarcastic line, was delivered seriously or not.
Now apologize, you filthy animal.

it is bama so it is a clearly defensible position. Bama doesn't violate the rules

I'm about 95% sure the guy is being sarcastic there. If he would have actually believed it wasn't a face mask I think he would have explained the reasons why it wasn't.

I certainly considered the possibility of sarcasm, but there was no other obvious sarcasm in the article -- a lot more shots at Ole Miss were taken but nothing dripping of sarcasm.
