Always signing a ton of talent, and having huge preseason hype and high rankings even though they didn't do much the previous season? Then under achieve and win 8 or 9 games instead of competing for a National Championship.

Better than an anytime Mississippi State. That's for sure.

No. They don't have the tradition or prestige of those 2 schools.

I guess if you strip away the good academics and towns where you won't get murdered Texas and Notre Dame are a lot like LSU.

As are Notre Dame and Texas, but that has nothing to do with my original post.

LSU won a national championship in '03 and '07. They played for another in '11. They won 10 games in '12 and '13. They haven't had a losing season since 1999.

Texas has had 4 losing seasons this decade including 3 in a row. Notre Dame was 4-8 last season and 3-9 in '07. In the last 20 years they have reached double digit wins 4 times.

Try harder

This is stupid. LSU has had a better program than either of those schools in the last 50 years.

It's an apple to Oranges argument, don't feel like breaking down the differences. LSU last 17 years > Miss St entire history.

LSU's "under-achievements" (top 15 rankings, 8/9 win seasons, decent bowl games) are what State fans pray for at night.

Both Texas and Norte Dame have over 100 wins more than LSU. Texas has 18 more conference titles, one more Narional Championahip and 6 more unclaimed national
Championships one more heisman winner and 20 more all Americans. Norte dame doesn't compete in conferences but they have 8 more national titles to go along with 6 more unclaimed. They have 6 more heisman winners and over 60 more all Americans. LSU simply ain't on their level.

I'm referring to the trend at LSU over the past 4-5 years. Just last season they were preseason number 4. This season they are top 10 again this year in most polls. With an unproven HC and mediocre QB

They just fired the most successful coach in program history and hired a new coach and a new offensive coordinator. If anything, LSU has shown that they are no longer content with 8 and 9 win seasons. Most programs would be enthralled with 8 or 9 wins a year (Mississippi State is one of those programs).

So no. They aren't turning into a modern day Texas or Notre Dame.

And, LSU got beat down in the National Championship Game by bammer, just like Texas and Notre Dame.

Good comparison.

I mean except Texas and ND have a lot more prestige prior to 2000 than LSU.

You take away the last 20 years of LSU Football and they're a pretty average program.
