Kevin Sumlin has a well known drinking problem. Did Johnny see Kevin drinking and still having a successful life and look up to him? Did he model his pro career and life style after Sumlin? We know Kevin runs a lax program. He truly let johnny do what he wanted and now he's created a monster.

Why do these threads exist? Johnny needs professional help. This likely goes back way farther than 5 years.

Yes. A&M should accept the blame for putting him on the biggest stages and giving him a chance to succeed in athletics while offering an education that he did not finish.

After a while you realize that the only person that can help someone is themselves.

It didn't help I am sure but to say that is the sole reason he is a screwup? No, not a chance. Addiction is a combination of genetics and psychological factors. I would bet a hundred bucks that he had a drinking problem before he ever got to A&M. Let's just say that what started him on this path was being in the two most spoiled, pampered, entitled groups in this country. The wealthy and high school football heroes. Bad parenting no doubt also.

What's really shitty is all of the people rooting for a 23 year old to crash and burn. I've moved from pro-Johnny to neutral. I'm not convinced he is guilty of what people are saying, but he isn't completely innocent. In any case, he is responsible for his actions and putting himself in the situation. People need to leave him alone and he needs to go to see a doctor. This is a mental health issue.
