Is JF3 really going to be Auburn's starting QB this year?

Prayers sent if true. I'm watching Last Chance U and he is tiny, not a leader, has an attitude problem, and didn't even start at JUCO.
He is very fast though. Gus is in trouble if he has to depend on him.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems as if this doc has really changed the minds of a lot of Auburn fans regarding the kid.
I mean yeah, he seems like a punk but I'm sure all of our teams have plenty of guys just like him. They just don't have cameras following them around.

You hit the nail on the head. The difference between him and other players was he had a camera crew following him around.
Honestly, the only thing really concerning is the off field stuff, and reaction to coaches at times. That is on Gus to handle. Every coach deals with it, it is part of the job.
The amazing thing is fans jumping ship from JF3 are just assuming our other options are angels. When you start applying moral assumptions based on on the field, that slope gets really slippery. (Tiger woods, etc)

Auburn can still be effective on offense with Franklin. Did you watch Baylor run for 600 yards or so on North Carolina? I could see Auburn win a lot of football games running 68 or 72 percent of the time.

To answer the original question... JF3 fits the version of our offense that we want to run. He didn't fit that juco, and he may not b our best guy. Our offense will utilize him better and might utilize him better than our other QBs. He hit 58% of his passes last year, which is the same as Sean White, but for a pretty low YPA.
If he can run the read and hit about 60% while throwing down the field some, I don't see how he doesn't start eventually.
I think the question may be what Gus wants to do. Does he want to be a poor mans version of what O we ran with Marshall, or attempt to be a better version of last year

I have a feeling it will be a drama-filled season for Auburn. The kid couldn't even start over a guy who's only scholarship offer was from Mississippi College

If I were an Auburn fan I'd be more concerned about him not being able to beat out the other kid.
The attitude thing...it wasn't a good look but you also have to remember that JUCO is different. As was said in the doc, none of them want to be there. They just realize that they have to be. When you get to a major college, the team becomes more important and if it doesn't then those kids get weeded out pretty quickly anyway.
He doesn't look like much of a QB to me, but Malzahn won the SEC with Marshall so who knows...

What ever happened to Shawn White?

You say that like it's a given. I wouldn't be surprised if he was 3rd on the depth chart when practice begins.

Sean White is there and will be competing for the job. He's finally healthy (played most of 2015 on a hobbled knee). He could be a great QB, but probably not in the offense that Gus has been most successful with.

that doc was so awesome. even the hillbilly starting QB was like this dude going to Auburn and i cant even get an offer anywhere? 4 wins if J5 is the man...

What a waste. He should transfer to LSU.

Really? Multiple Auburn posters thought it was ridiculous that I said JJ is still in the mix.

He could do very well in a lot of systems. Don't think arm strength is the best nor is he the fastest guy around but he's smart and very accurate.
When Gus recruited 2 pro-style guys in a row (JJ) we assumed that he would be moving more toward that kind of offense.

Everyone should still be in the mix although none are the true answer. Auburn doesn't have their quarterback of the future currently on roster, IMO.
As it stands, I think John Franklin III gives Auburn the best chance to win given his speed and athleticism.

It's cool, he scored 6 touch touchdowns on the worst JUCO team in Mississippi. He's basically the next Cam Newton.

On the same page we have one person asking who will be our QB will be and right above is this. WTF? Few if any think JF3 will be our starting QB. He supposedly did some workouts with Mike Vick, and honestly he couldn't have chosen a worse supporting cast to learn from. Vick couldn't hit shite from 10 yards.

Not sure who said that because we all think (right or not) that Gus is still considering him an option as starter.
