you have a clerical error in your title
Sumlin's seat is certainly hot, I'd say

If we're at 8 wins
Absolutely
9 or more? He'll get another year regardless

Yeah, he should probably "bet" on LSU to go 6 in a row or go bust.

I think Sumlin should bet on LSU

No. But he needs 9 wins.
How many wins does Les need?

If I were Sumlin, I'd bet LSU.

My God. How many times can the same obvious joke be repeated?

I think the aggies made it to expensive to get rid of Sumlin based on LSU. Inb4 "we can afford it!" and it's not that. Just may not be worth it to them to bite that bullet yet. Now if they go bowl-less, and lose to some "homecoming" teams then maybe.
The aggies will probably start thinking of axing him in the general area of where everyone is saying Sumlin should just man up and resign. Knowing he is just being a POS holding them to his buyout.
Every teams fan should look back at what the aggies did with Sumlin as why it's stupid to go for the "hot coach" of the time. Especially after a year or so of success at a program they took over for another successful coach who moved on to a bigger program.

We should revisit this after this season
Remember Sumlin has had greater success than Miles over the last 4 seasons

Yes.
6-6 with a win over daddy LSU will get him a 5 year extension.

Suppose LSU goes 8-4. Is Les out?

It depends on how the season plays out.
It depends on the records and standings at seasons end.
So if A&M wins their games, and LSU loses 3 games this year, then that one game will be less significant....
